Money Tree Pruning Tips: Lush and Upright, with New Shoots Sprouting Like Crazy

Besides ensuring the right conditions of water, temperature, and light, the Money Tree (Pachira aquatica) also needs pruning. Proper pruning allows the Money Tree to concentrate its nutrients and grow better and better. Let's take a look at the pruning methods for the Money Tree!
Money Tree pruning tips:
(1). Branch pruning
For routine pruning, all clustered branches, inward-growing branches, overlapping branches, crossing branches, leggy branches, and parallel branches should be cut off, so as to avoid wasting nutrients, save space, and promote the growth of roots and leaves. The central leading branch (top-heart branch) should also be pruned off. Branches can also be appropriately retained for shaping purposes. When pruning old branches or yellow leaves, under southern conditions, choose to do it on a sunny day. When pruning branches, cut leaving 2 cm above the soil surface, so as not to cause infection and rot.
(2). Shaping
Newly sprouted buds need to be pruned to maintain the original shape. You can also prune it into a shape you like according to your own preferences; common shapes include the natural shape, mushroom shape, cloud shape, and so on. Strong buds in areas with missing branches should be kept, to avoid pruning it into a round shape.
(3). Leaf removal
Generally, by removing old leaves, the plant can be stimulated to sprout more new leaves. The newly grown leaves are fresh and green, very beautiful, and great for viewing.
(4). Pinching
Pinching is generally used to inhibit growth, encourage the branches to spread out, and make the plant shape fuller; it often needs to be done multiple times during the growth process.
(5). Bud removal
Bud removal is done to avoid consuming nutrients, allow the main trunk and branches to grow quickly, and inhibit the reproductive growth of side branches. It is generally good for shaping; strong young buds growing in some areas should be appropriately retained.
