Regarding how to water orchids, Haoshe Farmer has said in previous articles that I believe many orchid growers have also mastered the method that suits them. You have learned how to water, but do you know which kinds of water cannot be used on orchids?

Haoshe Farmer has summed it up: whether orchids are wild, domesticated, tissue-culture seedlings or greenhouse seedlings, they all share one common trait - they all fear these three kinds of water. If these three kinds of water are applied carelessly, the orchids are basically at death's door, so orchid growers must pay attention and absolutely must not use these three kinds of water.

1. Using municipal tap water directly on flowers. Municipal tap water contains a large amount of chlorine, and orchids are sensitive to chlorine. Haoshe Farmer said in the fertilizing section earlier that the compound fertilizer used for orchids must not contain chlorine; the reason we use a small amount of sulfate-based compound fertilizer is exactly this. Municipal tap water must be left standing for more than 48 hours to let the chlorine volatilize before it can be used on flowers.

2. Watering at noon in summer is a major taboo in orchid growing and even in growing all plants, because at this time the pot soil temperature is high and the air temperature is high, and right after watering, water vapor transpiration forms immediately, damaging the orchid leaves above and the orchid roots below. Summer afternoon water includes thunderstorms; if orchids are placed outdoors, be sure not to let them be watered by afternoon thunderstorms.

3. Acid rain in heavily polluted areas. Surely everyone knows that after acid rain, not a blade of grass grows. Acid rain is extremely harmful to plants; if orchids unfortunately get watered by this kind of rain, they are basically ruined. Orchid growers, now you understand what water cannot be used on orchids, right? You are welcome to join the discussion. If you like orchids, follow the official account (Haoshe Farmer)
