Dahlia, also known as "sweet potato flower", has a wide variety of types and is rich and colorful, and is one of the world's famous flowers. Today I will teach everyone how to grow dahlias. If grown well, there will be flowers to enjoy every year!

1.

Planting

————

If you choose to plant tubers, it is generally done in March to April. Now it is already May, which is a bit late, so you can directly buy dahlias that have already been grown.

Choosing a flower pot: It is recommended that everyone use a 2-gallon or 3-gallon flower pot, as large as possible, so that it can meet its growth needs. If you do not repot it, when the soil ball goes through some transportation, there will be a large gap between it and the edge of the pot, and when watering, water will easily flow off from the side.

Soil mixing: It is recommended that everyone use general-purpose nutrient soil. Peat and perlite at 4:1 is enough. This formula is still relatively water-retentive and breathable.

2.

Care

————

Dahlias are very fond of sunlight. Below 30 degrees, they must receive full sun, otherwise many of the small flower buds on top will not be able to open, and the plant will also grow relatively weakly.

Watering: During the flowering stage, dahlias consume a very large amount of water, and basically the soil must be kept moist at all times. On a day with strong sun like this, basically you need to water once a day.

Fertilizer: Dahlia is a plant that relatively likes fertilizer, so I suggest everyone use both slow-release fertilizer and water-soluble fertilizer.

For slow-release fertilizer, use it once each in spring and autumn. The fertilizer effect of Osmocote 1 lasts for three months. In summer, when it is dormant due to high temperatures, it does not need to be used. Usually during the flowering period, using Hua Duo Duo No. 2 is enough, at a ratio of 1:1000, and watering about once a week is enough.

Tips:

1 Needs sufficient light

2 During the flowering period, the water requirement is very large, so it needs frequent watering

3 In winter, if the temperature is below 0 degrees, the tubers need to be dug out and stored.
