Succulents are a must-have plant for many gardeners. They look cute, and a small pot can beautifully decorate a room. Add some DIY, and turning them into a mini landscape is simply stunning.

Many flower lovers may be new to growing succulents and not know what types are better to grow. Today the editor recommends a few easy-to-grow succulents for beginners. They can easily survive without much care, and if grown well, filling out the pot is very easy.

Echeveria secunda (Yudie)

Yudie is also known as stone lotus (Echeveria secunda). It is very easy to survive; generally it can take root as soon as it touches soil and grow into a new plant, so Yudie often grows in patches, which means you never need to worry about it growing sparsely.

Yudie is robust and does not have high demands for its environment. It likes light; with sufficient light the leaves grow full and thick, and all-day light is no problem. Keep indoor ventilation good, and timely outdoor growing is even better for its growth. For watering, about once a week is enough. When watering, do not get water on the leaves; there is powder on the leaves, and splashing water will wash the powder off, making the leaves prone to sunburn and turning to mush.

Echeveria chihuahuaensis (Jiwa Lian)

Jiwa Lian is what we often call the "chihuahua" of the plant world. The red tips of its leaves are especially beautiful, making it a very ornamental succulent plant.

Growing Echeveria chihuahuaensis is not complicated; just keep sufficient light. With sufficient light the leaves are arranged very tightly. In summer, pay attention to shading and reduce watering; too much water accumulation easily causes rot. Because it grows slowly, the soil does not need to contain too much fertilizer.

Graptosedum 'Bronze' (Ji Longyue)

Ji Longyue is very easy to grow, and it propagates quickly, making it very suitable for beginners to grow by leaf cutting. Ji Longyue likes light and can take all-day light, but in summer when the light is too strong, also pay attention to proper shading. If it lacks light, the plant will turn green and the stems will stretch out.

Water Ji Longyue about once a week; never overwater.

Orostachys boehmeri (Zi Chi Lianhua)

Zi Chi Lianhua is robust, likes light, is cold-tolerant and also tolerates moisture. In summer, after the temperature exceeds 30 degrees, it begins to go dormant. In the dormant state it reaches its best ornamental effect, and during the dormant period you should control the amount of watering.

Zi Chi Lianhua grows very fast in spring, summer and autumn. Beginners can use cuttings to propagate it, and propagating with individual leaves also works. After the leaves grow larger and fall on the soil, with enough moisture they can also take root and grow into new plants.

Sedum rubrotinctum (Hong Zhi Yu)

Hong Zhi Yu is what we often call corn kernels. Its shape is thick and full, and its leaves, one by one, are just like small corn kernels.

Hong Zhi Yu is very easy to keep alive and is very suitable for inexperienced beginners. It likes light, and all-day light is fine. It is also very drought-tolerant; watering about once a week is enough, otherwise too much water easily causes root rot.
