Aeonium Saga Prologue - play the "Big Fish & Begonia" album "Fearless Qiu" by Yoshida Kiyoshi, and let's begin this piece!

This is a magnificent full bloom, possessing an unparalleled beauty.

Behind the delicate flowers hides a grandeur not to be underestimated.

Their blossoms are filled with aesthetic love.

Because there is only one time in a lifetime, to encounter that unexpected love.

No matter whether the ending is predestined, they are still brave; this is fate, and it is also their choice.

This is a sacrifice, and also a willful persistence, disregarding everything to seek romance, burning everything out for reproduction.

This wonderful yet sorrowful chant! It draws swarms of bees endlessly.

These matchmakers are like a gift from nature; they beat out rhythms with their wings, filling in melody for this song.

Helping it compose the final poem of life.

The "fruits" they conceive together

will ultimately drift away in the clear breeze of autumn, beginning a new journey with "fate."

They are just such a stubborn species, "Crassulaceae, Aeonium genus" -- aeoniums. In their seedling stage they have extremely fast growth speed, and as mature plants they have tenacious vitality and are full of vigor, with root systems as developed as those of trees.

They possess tall, upright, straight stems, and richly varied rosettes and colors. They are also the giants of the great Crassulaceae family. As long as there is enough space, they can almost all grow into a miniature jungle.

Like other crassulas, they also have the characteristic of changing according to the four seasons and environment. They have a great many varieties, each with its own features.

Some are as clear and pure as a lotus emerging from water.

Some resemble ghosts and demons in form.

But they also differ from other crassulas, because no matter what appearance they have, no matter what form they grow into, their entire life they strive toward only one goal, blooming only to compose a glorious story.

"Spring," the flourishing season of revival, new life in budding form; this is a beginning and at the same time signifies an ending.

"Summer," a lazy deep sleep; this is a reserve, and also the prologue to a farewell.

"Autumn," harvest drifting in the misty wind; the end of one story, and also a new journey of life.

"Winter," quiet and cruel; this is a test for new life, and also an elimination.

The laws of nature cycle on like this without end, washing away the years and urging on new life.

Life is merely tiny dust in this great cycle of nature, drifting everywhere with the clear breeze of fate. One life will always pass by many lives, meeting and parting again. Yes, when the time comes, it is time to say goodbye.

Touching these aged and weathered branches, feeling their former vitality and beauty, it is as if all their memories replay from here.

The old roots spreading in all directions grip the soil tightly, projecting all that they once experienced.

Beneath the cracked and aged skin, the stem is laboriously supplying nutrients to the rosette, preparing to complete its final mission.

Yes, these ones that have accompanied me are already prepared, to compose the final poem for their lives.

Turning themselves into a massive tree of blossoms, to bloom once more in the most beautiful way for their lives!

Of course, perhaps I will be reluctant to part with the company of such a group of old friends, reluctant to part with their gorgeous and enchanting colors, reluctant to watch them grow from a sprout of a few centimeters into a large tree. Reluctant to part with such a simple and ordinary story.

But I cannot, because of my greed, because of my reluctance, selfishly cut off their blossoms at the endpoint of your fate. Depriving them of the rights they deserve! So go! Set foot on the path that belongs to you!

The laws of nature are sacred, and as a flower grower, as a lover of nature, I have witnessed their growth, witnessed their spring, summer, autumn, and winter, and in the end I should also calmly appreciate their departure. Because this is their choice.

Goodbye, another batch of my succulent trees! Parting is impermanent and helpless, but it signifies the end of a decline, and also signifies the birth of a sprout. Sensibly and quietly appreciate their growth, rationally face their departure. Because this is the cycle of nature.

I will capture your seeds and wait in the soil to meet you again, just like Groot hahahaha...

This piece is complete!

An easter egg? This entire piece is just one big easter egg, hahaha. Because "Aeonium Saga" was originally intended to be written starting from sowing and sprouting in the second half of this year, but seeing their aged parents, I couldn't help but write this interlude, hahaha, just treat it as the prologue.

So along the way, let me first share my personal experience with growing aeoniums! Actually, for my personal growing style with aeoniums, if they can be planted in the ground, then plant them in the ground as much as possible; if in pots, then make the pots as large as possible, because aeonium root systems are enormous, and their rosettes and stems can also be considered the greatest in the Crassulaceae family. In their lifetime they bloom only once, and once means the end, so I will do my utmost to let them have enough space and conditions, so that during this experience of accompanying me they can grow into their most spectacular form and produce one greatest full bloom.

Aeoniums are the big trees among succulents, (so this entire piece was shot in macro. They are simply too big to photograph as a whole plant; the tallest bloom stalk, as shown in the picture, has already reached nearly 3 m including pot and plant.) This is their characteristic, and also their ecology. Compared to the beauty of a temporary dormancy, I prefer to appreciate their entire life process, because what I am raising is a living life, not looking at an object!

Finally, let me give a preview table of contents! My two books have already reached the final revision stage, and everyone may need to wait a while longer. In addition, the prologue of the article catalog has basically been organized. The exchange posts updated recently include: Pachyphytum Saga "Beauty Chronicles," Echeveria Moon Shadow Saga "Shadow Ballad," Echeveria Saga "Thin-Leaved Ice Purity"... The rest of the sagas will have to wait until their corresponding succulent groups make a comeback before they continue to be updated. It is expected that all prologues will be updated one after another in late summer and early autumn. Thank you all for your support.

In addition, if I have enough energy, I will also add a "storyline," writing out one after another of those melodramatic stories that happened with succulents over these years, hahaha, just treat it as one person's boring confessions! Time for dinner, everyone, bye-bye! If you like it after reading, remember to like it! Your support will make me write more and more, thank you!
