Want to grow orchids well? Just break these 4 habits and it becomes easy

Avoid impatience: Beginners at orchid growing are often impatient, wanting to grow orchids well as quickly as possible. Being impatient alone does not help; you need to be impatient in a smart way. You might as well invest in knowledge first: read more books, learn more, ask more, think more, start by letting theory guide practice, and start with common varieties, gaining experience from them and improving step by step. Take the path of using orchids to support orchids, then develop varieties and raise your standards. Want your varieties to develop quickly? You cannot be impatient either. By all means do not make the orchid pot's medium (growing soil) too rich, or frequently apply excessive fertilizer. Do not think that more fertilizer means more seedlings, causing artificial fertilizer damage and thus the opposite of what you want. When your orchid plant unfortunately gets diseased or suffers pest damage, also by all means do not be too impatient. You should use the right amount of medicine in proportion to the symptoms, and absolutely must not use things indiscriminately or in excessive amounts, causing artificial chemical damage. Fertilizer damage, chemical damage, disease and pests - the "four harms" occurring together - are extremely unfavorable to the growth and survival of orchids. We advocate using scientific methods and taking the path of "prevention first, treatment as supplement." You should prevent trouble before it happens; when disease occurs, handle it carefully, and by all means do not rush.
Avoid laziness: The great development of agriculture depends on breeding good seed, scientific farming, and the hard work and management of the broad masses of farmers. In growing orchids and developing the orchid cause, it is the same. In orchid cultivation, you must first create an environment suitable for growth for the orchids, and tirelessly strengthen management, giving sunlight, air (ventilation), water and nutrients at the right time and in the right amount. Growing orchids is also a case of one part labor, one part harvest. Things depend on human effort; when your skill is up to standard, orchid growth will surely have strong roots and lush leaves, with abundant blooms. So growing orchids should also advocate diligence and avoid laziness. Avoid complacency: Orchid growers should be broad-minded and far-sighted, constantly striving forward. By all means do not be satisfied with a single success or a narrow view, and even less should you take the attitude that "my own child is always the best." You should climb to high places and take in the view of all the mountains, so that you can keep progressing, improving and developing.
Avoid discouragement: Beginners at orchid growing may, because of a temporary improper method, have their orchids decline or die; or when buying orchids, because they are unsure of the variety and poorly informed about prices, they may be cheated and fooled; or in dealings in orchid circles, they may be trampled on or belittled by a few individuals. Whether it is paying tuition or suffering other people's anger, by all means do not be discouraged. You can only straighten your back, gather your energy, and believe that on the basis of constantly summarizing experience and lessons, with feet on the ground and hard, solid work, there will surely be good results.
Avoid bias: In growing orchids, you must grasp well the common characteristics of orchid growing and the individual characteristics of cultivated varieties, combine them with your own environmental conditions, and choose cultivation methods suited to local conditions and suited to the variety. By all means do not mechanically copy the experience of other places and other people in a doctrinaire way. Even less should you listen only to one side and believe books, periodicals and word-of-mouth crooked methods that seek economic gain while ignoring social benefit and quality, otherwise you will take many detours. In seed selection and breeding, you must constantly improve your own appreciation level. "Crooked" characters in the market or mixed into orchid circles still appear from time to time; they pass off inferior as good, pass off fake as real, and ingeniously fabricate "rare treasures" such as "XX Concubine" orchids and "XX Buddha" orchids, making a big uproar to disrupt the market and orchid prices. In this situation, orchid growers should keep their eyes sharp and hold their ground; let the wind and waves rise, sit steady in the fishing boat. By all means do not follow blindly or echo others and be cheated.
