How to grow violets? Detailed guide to cultivation methods and precautions
1. Soil
The soil requirements for growing violets are not very high, but it is best to choose neutral to slightly alkaline soil, as this is beneficial for their growth, and also choose soil with good drainage as much as possible.
2. Light
They need some light, but not too intense. Too intense direct sunlight in summer will affect their growth, so light must be moderate. Generally, when it exceeds 75000 lux, the position needs to be moved or appropriate shading provided.
3. Temperature
The suitable temperature for growing violets is 15-18°C.
4. Watering
Watering is a very important step. In spring and summer when temperatures are high, you can water more appropriately, while in autumn and winter when temperatures are lower, watering should be reduced appropriately. The amount of water should not be too much or too little.
5. Fertilizing
During the vigorous growth period, a dilute fertilizer can be used, applying a compound fertilizer about every 10 days. The amount of fertilizer should not be too much or too little, as improper fertilizing will greatly affect normal growth.
6. Precautions
1. Flower pot selection: The flower pot should be chosen according to the size of the violet. Because its root system is relatively small, the flower pot should not be too large when first planting.
2. Watch out for pests and diseases: During the growing process, it is very easily harmed by root rot, aphids, mites, etc. Therefore, the substrate should be sterilized before planting, and attention should be paid to ventilation. Once pests and diseases are found, pesticides should be sprayed promptly to eliminate them.
