How to grow cyclamen? Detailed guide to cultivation methods and precautions
1. Soil
The primary requirement is high nutrients, looseness and air permeability. In addition, according to the plant's characteristics, the pH should be between 6 and 7, that is, a somewhat neutral soil.
2. Light
The plant is relatively fond of light, and should usually be kept in a place with plenty of sunlight. Especially when the temperature is below 28°C, light becomes even more important. However, the stronger the light the better is not always true; the plant fears direct light, so shade it appropriately when exposed to it.
3. Watering
The plant likes moisture but also fears waterlogging. Too much standing water will make its roots rot, and in severe cases it will die. Therefore, just keep the soil moist and do not let water accumulate.
4. Temperature
The most suitable range is 10°C to 20°C, which is most favorable for the plant's growth. Below 5°C, growth slows down; above 30°C, the plant enters dormancy; if above 35°C, it is prone to rot. Therefore, in summer it is best not to exceed 30°C, and in winter not to fall below 0°C.
5. Fertilizing
During the growing seasons of spring and autumn, apply once a 0.2 percent concentration of monopotassium phosphate. Note that during the flowering period, do not apply too much nitrogen fertilizer, otherwise the branches and leaves will grow too quickly and the flowers will have a short lifespan.
6. Ventilation
Stale air or too much smoke and dust in the air will make the petals wither quickly, so regular ventilation is needed, but do not place it in a drafty spot.
