Reasons for Yellowing Leaves on Geraniums and How to Fix Them

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
There are five situations. First, a sudden major change in the environment, which requires normal care until the plant adapts. Second, overwatering, which requires immediately stopping watering and placing the plant in a ventilated, dry place. Third, excessive sun exposure, which requires moving it to a shady, ventilated place. Fourth, dry air, which can be addressed by misting appropriately. Fifth, excessively high temperatures, which require placing it in a cool place, such as an air-conditioned room.

1. Normal care

(1) Specific cause: When high temperatures arrive, some growers suddenly move the plant indoors, or from full sun to a semi-shaded spot. These sudden environmental changes can easily make it hard for the plant to adapt for a while, causing the leaves to turn yellow.

(2) Solution: There is no need to worry too much in this case; the plant has its own process of adapting. Just ensure all conditions are suitable, and the plant will gradually recover.

2. Control watering

(1) Specific cause: Too many waterings or too much water each time keeps the soil overly wet for a long time, and the roots will rot. Then the young leaves turn yellow, while the old leaves show no obvious change.

(2) Solution: Stop watering immediately. Loosen the potting soil a little and place it in a ventilated, dry place to speed up the evaporation of moisture inside.

3. Place it in a shady spot

(1) Specific cause: After prolonged exposure to strong sun, the leaves turn yellow; this phenomenon is called sunburn yellowing.

(2) Solution: Immediately place the plant in a shady spot, and it will recover quickly.

4. Mist appropriately

(1) Specific cause: The plant has requirements for air humidity; too-low humidity and dry air will make the leaves turn yellow.

(2) Solution: You can appropriately spray or sprinkle some water, but do not spray too much onto the leaves.

5. Place it in a cooler spot

(1) Specific cause: Too-high temperatures hinder the plant's absorption of iron, causing yellow leaves.

(2) Solution: It needs to be placed in a cooler spot, such as an air-conditioned room.
