What to Do When Anthurium Leaves Turn Yellow? Causes and Solutions
1. Increase Light
If this plant is kept for a long time in a place that lacks light or is shaded, it will grow poorly, showing yellowing leaves and failing to bloom or grow new leaves. At this point, we should place it in a spot with enough sunlight, such as a balcony or a yard. However, if the summer sun is too strong, some shading is still necessary.
2. Regulate Temperature
Unsuitable temperatures can very likely cause its leaves to turn yellow, and special attention is needed in winter, because if the temperature is too low, the leaves will turn yellow, but if the temperature indoors in winter is too high, water will evaporate faster, and a lack of water at the roots will likewise cause its leaves to turn yellow. Therefore, we must ensure that the indoor temperature in winter stays relatively stable, neither too high nor too low.
3. Replace the Soil
This plant prefers to grow in slightly acidic soil, and if the soil becomes alkaline, its leaves may turn yellow. We can buy special acidic soil to grow it, or water the soil with FeSo4 solution to maintain the soil's acidity. In addition, we can replace the soil regularly or loosen the soil for it.
4. Fertilize Appropriately
Improper watering or fertilizing can both cause its leaves to turn yellow. If watering is inappropriate, water appropriately, taking care not to water too much or too often, and there must be no standing water in the pot, otherwise yellow leaves may very likely result from root rot. If the amount of fertilizer is too much or too little, its leaves will also show yellowing. If too much fertilizer was applied, stop fertilizing and water the pot; if too little fertilizer was applied, fertilize a moderate amount and add an appropriate amount of trace elements to the fertilizer.
