Spring is the peak growing season for roses, and it is also their blooming period now. I wonder how your roses are blooming at home. If they are still in the bud stage, besides factors like the rose variety, watering, fertilizing and environment, the remaining factor is pruning. If you did not prune ruthlessly in winter, spring is just the opportunity.

1. Pruning

Winter and spring are the best seasons for pruning roses, and pruning roses is very simple. You only need to master the key points. Generally, when pruning in early spring, you only need to keep a height of 15-20CM. If you have already missed that, then you cannot prune this way; at this time, light pruning is the main approach.

If the flowers have already faded, then it is better to cut off the 3 leaves below the spent flowers. Of course, if there are many branches, you need to cut off the blind branches. This can also thin out dense branches and increase ventilation and light penetration, which can also reduce the chance of roses getting sick and strengthen photosynthesis.

2. Water

Roses love water very much, but they are very prone to waterlogging and standing water, especially potted roses. Once there is too much water, it easily causes root rot, and yellowing leaves and leaf drop are very likely to appear. For potted roses, try to choose flower pots with more drainage holes at the bottom.

Potted roses are more suitable for being placed on flower stands for care. The stand itself is hollow, and the ventilation conditions are also very good, so this can better solve the problems of standing water and ventilation.

3. Fertilizer

During the growth process of roses, sufficient fertilizer must be supplemented. Generally, use an organic liquid fertilizer once about every two weeks, with relatively rich and balanced nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content. Of course, during the flowering period, you can spray potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution, which can provide sufficient nutrients for roses to bloom more.

Generally, roses are relatively prone to illness. If pests or diseases are found on the plant, you need to spray pesticide immediately. Pest damage on roses spreads very quickly. Every year when repotting, the flower pot and potting soil also need to be disinfected and sterilized.
