Snake plant is also called tiger skin plant or thousand-year plant. It is a very easy-to-grow plant; even after planting, you can leave it alone for a month and it will still grow until it bursts the pot. There are short-spike snake plants and long-leaf tiger skin plants, and all of them purify the air, are tough and easy to grow. It actually does not need very meticulous care: put it on the balcony, water it occasionally, fertilize a few times a year, and it will still grow very well, as easy to grow as ball cacti and cacti.

1. Because the snake plant is very easy to grow, it has low requirements for potting soil; ordinary garden soil is enough to meet its growth needs. If the soil is more fertile and permeable, it will grow even better. It is best to mix garden soil, leaf mold and sandy soil in a 2:2:1 ratio for planting.

2. Snake plants are especially drought-tolerant; usually just keep the soil slightly dry. If the soil is too moist, it easily causes the leaves, roots and rhizomes to rot.

3. However, although snake plants are fairly drought-tolerant, if you do not water them for several months, the soil will dry out to a certain point, the leaves will be unable to absorb water, and the leaves will curl and even wither and dry out.

4. Although snake plants like sunlight, in summer, if the light is too intense, especially when high temperatures combine with blazing sun, the leaves easily curl. At this time they need to be placed in a shaded, indirectly lit, ventilated spot.

5. If a snake plant has been grown for two years and the soil in the pot has become somewhat compacted, you can loosen the soil and add some loose, fertile, well-draining soil. It is best to add some sand grains and coal cinders to the soil to increase aeration.

6. Although it can grow without any fertilizer, during the growing season give it some organic fertilizer, or apply a compound fertilizer once every two months, a small amount each time, to promote taller leaves, more pups, and faster filling of the pot.

7. In winter, place the snake plant in a wind-sheltered, warm spot, and reduce the frequency and amount of watering; it is even fine not to water it for one or two months.

8. If you want to grow more snake plants, you can also cut the leaves into sections about ten cm long and insert them into sandy soil for cuttings.

After more than twenty days, they will sprout and grow roots, becoming a small snake plant.

Many flower lovers' snake plants have grown to over one meter tall, and have even produced beautiful flowers.
