How to plant cosmos? A detailed guide to the planting method
1. Soil
Because cosmos itself has fairly good adaptability, with strong tolerance to cold and drought, it has few requirements for soil, so it can be grown in neutral to slightly acidic soil.
2. Sowing
The seeds need to be bought from the market, and you should choose fully mature ones that are free of bacteria. The specific sowing time is in April, and you can scatter them directly on top of the soil. In about seven to ten days, they will sprout.
3. Transplanting
Once it grows true leaves, it can be transplanted. Specifically, this shows when it is about five cm long. If we want to place it on a balcony to grow, we need to use a relatively large flower pot. Also, we need to pay attention to keeping the plant spacing. Once it grows flowers, it will look especially beautiful.
4. Pinching
It grows especially fast, so it is best to pinch it several times. This way it can develop a few more branches, and there will also be more flower buds, and the flowers it opens will look much better.
5. Care
In terms of care, first of all you need to provide it with plenty of sunlight. As for watering, you cannot give too much, about once or twice a week; in summer it can be a bit more, but each watering does not need to be too much, just slightly moistening the soil is enough. Fertilizing does not need to be done often; basically giving it some ordinary fertilizer is very good, and when there are buds you can apply a bit more.
