What to Do When Peace Lily Leaves Turn Yellow? Causes and Solutions

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
There are many reasons why peace lily leaves turn yellow: if it is caused by a change in the growing environment, then reduce changes to the growing environment; if it is caused by overwatering, then reduce the amount of watering and just water moderately; if it is caused by alkaline soil, you can switch to acidic soil or water it with some fermented rice-washing water or rainwater.

1. Reduce environmental changes:

Cause: Once the environment in which the peace lily is grown changes, its leaves will turn yellow, so the light, temperature and humidity conditions for growing it should preferably not change too much.

Solution: Avoid major changes to the growing environment, and it will be fine once it has adapted to the current growing environment.

2. Reduce watering:

Cause: Peace lilies can be grown hydroponically, but this does not mean you can keep watering them constantly, and watering a small amount many times is even worse, because it very easily causes the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: If this is the case, be sure to reduce the frequency of watering as much as possible; it is best to water only after the moisture contained in the growing medium has dried out.

3. Replace the soil:

Cause: Peace lilies like acidic soil. If the soil at home is on the alkaline side, then over time its leaves will turn yellow and may even drop off.

Solution: You can directly switch to acidic soil, or pour some fermented rainwater or rice-washing water onto the soil.

4. Increase light:

Cause: Peace lilies need relatively good light to grow normally. Once they lack light, their leaves will turn yellow.

Solution: Move it from a shady place to a place with better sunlight, but do not expose it directly to strong sunlight, otherwise the strong light will scorch it and cause yellow leaves, and it may even wither and die.
