Reasons for Yellowing Dahlia Leaves and How to Fix Them

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
There are many reasons why dahlia leaves turn yellow: if it is caused by unsuitable soil, repot it into soil with good aeration; if it is caused by improper fertilizing, water it thoroughly, place it in the sun and reduce the amount of fertilizer; if it is caused by unreasonable lighting, control the light properly and give it suitable lighting conditions; if you are watering too much, reduce watering.

1. Replace the potting soil:

Cause: Unsuitable potting soil can easily cause its leaves to turn yellow. Dahlias are best grown in loose soil with relatively good drainage. If you use fairly heavy clay soil, it will not only cause the leaves to turn yellow but also hinder its growth.

Solution: You can repot it into suitable soil, which not only helps improve the yellowing leaves but is also very beneficial to its growth and development.

2. Fertilize in the right amount:

Cause: Some people fertilize heavily to make it grow faster, which can easily lead to yellow leaves and even withering and rot.

Solution: First remove the yellow leaves, then water thoroughly and place it in the sun. In normal times, fertilize in the right amount and do not fertilize too much or too often.

3. Control light properly:

Cause: Dahlias like sunlight. During the growing period, whether they are scorched by direct sun or receive insufficient sunlight, yellow leaves will appear.

Solution: Place it somewhere with sunlight but without scorching exposure. If the sunlight is very intense, move it somewhere else.

4. Water in the right amount:

Cause: Dahlias are afraid of waterlogging and are also not tolerant of drought. If you water heavily or if there is a lack of water, the leaves will turn yellow.

Solution: When watering it, wait until the soil has dried out completely and then water thoroughly. If there is standing water in the pot after rain, drain it promptly.
