Reasons for Yellowing Clematis Leaves and How to Fix Them

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
There are many reasons that cause clematis leaves to turn yellow: if the fertilizer amount is too large or the fertilizer concentration is too high, reduce fertilizing; if the light is too strong, reduce the light; if the light is insufficient, increase the light; if the watering amount is too large and too frequent, reduce watering and just keep the soil moist; if ventilation is poor, promptly move it to a well-ventilated spot.

1. Reduce fertilizing:

Cause: To help clematis grow better, fertilizer should be applied in a timely manner, but the amount of fertilizer must be well controlled and should not be excessive or too frequent. If the fertilizer concentration is too high, it will cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: Fertilize in appropriate amounts. During the growing season, it can be increased appropriately, while at other times, fertilize normally.

2. Appropriate light:

Cause: Clematis needs sufficient light, but in summer it should be shaded appropriately, because the summer sun is relatively strong, and if it is exposed for a long time, it can easily cause the leaves to wither and turn yellow.

Solution: It needs about 6 hours of light per day. In summer, it must not be exposed to strong light for long periods. Sufficient sunlight is good for its growth, while intense sunlight will affect its growth.

3. Reasonable watering

Cause: Too much water or a lack of water can very easily cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: When the soil is found to be dry, water a little more appropriately. If the soil has standing water, do not water again. You can also spray some water frequently to keep it moist.

4. Strengthen ventilation

Cause: If it is kept for a long time in a closed and shady growing environment, yellow leaves can easily appear, and it may even wither and die.

Solution: You can place it in a well-ventilated spot. If it is indoors, you can also open the windows appropriately, or simply place it in the sunlight.
