Reasons for Yellowing Leaves on Air Plants and How to Fix It

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
There are many reasons why air plant leaves turn yellow: if you usually water too much, reduce watering; if it is often exposed to strong sunlight, shade it and just make sure it gets enough light; if it is often kept in a fully enclosed environment, give it proper ventilation; if low temperatures are the cause, take some measures to keep it warm.

1. Reduce watering:

Cause: If an air plant is watered too much, it will be soaked in standing water, which rots the roots, and its leaves will turn yellow as a result.

Solution: Watering involves a lot of know-how. Do not water too much. Normally, watering when the soil surface is slightly dry is enough, and the amount of water should not be too large.

2. Reduce light exposure:

Cause: Air plants cannot be exposed to strong sunlight. Long periods of exposure to strong sunlight easily cause yellowing at the leaf tips. Just make sure the light is sufficient.

Solution: You can place it on a balcony, and when the light is strong, shade it appropriately, or move it slightly. Conversely, leaving it in a shady spot for a long time is also not good; it needs appropriate light.

3. Pay attention to ventilation

Cause: Keeping it in a fully enclosed environment easily stifles it and makes its leaves turn yellow.

Solution: Ventilate it appropriately, or occasionally open a window at night. A ventilated environment is good for its growth.

4. Raise the temperature to protect against cold

Cause: The most suitable temperature for air plant growth is 20-25°C, and it should not go below 5°C at the lowest. In a low-temperature environment, it is easily frostbitten, and then the leaves turn yellow.

Solution: In a low-temperature environment, you can take some measures to keep it warm, or place it in the sunlight when the sun is good, and control watering appropriately.
