Hibiscus is a flower with high ornamental value and a great choice for decorating gardens, hotels, exhibitions and homes. It has many varieties, ranking among the top high-variety flowers in the world. Some varieties were developed through later improvement and breeding, but all varieties share the same characteristics: the flower cluster is rather large and the colors are varied and bright, including red, pink, yellow and so on. Now let's learn together about the common types of hibiscus.

1. Variegated-leaf hibiscus

This hibiscus is the most common in flower beds, especially on school flower beds, where it is absolutely indispensable. The flowers are mostly red, and the leaves are long and needle-shaped. The markings on each leaf are almost different, with green as the base color and markings in white, light green and other colors on top. The color of the leaf veins also differs somewhat, so it is called variegated-leaf hibiscus.

2. Red hibiscus

This hibiscus has rather distinctive flowers: the flowers bloom when the sun rises and close when the sun sets, so it is praised as "the rising sun in the east," a name full of vigor; from the name you can also tell the flower color, which must be deep red. The flowers hang high on the branches when the early sun rises, and the flower cluster can reach more than ten cm wide.

3. Yellow hibiscus

Its scientific name is 'Yuyi Huang'. It is a plant that blooms all year round, only the flowering speed is somewhat slower. The yellow single-layer flower cluster is obovate, wrapped on the outside with a little fine down; the leaves are broad ovate and narrow ovate, and there is a little leaf hair along the leaf veins on both the front and back of the leaves; among hibiscus types it has extremely high ornamental value, yet it is the single-petal variety with the lowest survival rate from cuttings.

4. Black Dragon

Black Dragon hibiscus is an evergreen shrub plant. The flowers bloom among the nodes and droop naturally. The corolla diameter is relatively large, and the flower color is rather deep, mostly appearing deep red or black-purple. The leaf surface has a few wrinkles and reflective markings, smooth and hairless, and the leaf margin has coarse-toothed notches; it has the characteristic of blooming continuously all year, and its flowering period is relatively long, making it one of the blooming plants used for display in public places.

5. Sunset

Because the petal color changes from the flower center outward, the color resembles the glow of the setting sun, so it is named Sunset. Sunset hibiscus is single-petaled, and the corolla shape is somewhat similar to a funnel. The color of the flower center is rather deep, while the outer petals are yellow. In the flower center there are vertical stripes, and the markings are clearly visible; after the flower blooms, the petals droop naturally, while the central style stands upright facing the sun.

Have you seen any of these hibiscus types introduced above in your life? Is there a style you like? I personally prefer Black Dragon; the deep flower color gives a cool and mysterious feeling. What do you think?
