Can green, pollution-free vegetables and fruits meet people's daily needs?

First, a brief answer to the question: pure green, pollution-free vegetables and fruits cannot meet daily supply under China's current population base and agricultural productivity. They cannot meet supply now, and in the foreseeable future they still will not be able to meet supply. Even if green fruits and vegetables were planted across the entire country, it would still be difficult to meet people's daily needs. If crop yields were raised to the current level through green methods, it is highly likely that people could not afford them. It could even be said to be going backwards. The reasons are explained below.
In terms of yield, green cultivation yields less than current agricultural cultivation. I think no one should doubt this point. However, if you blindly look at so-called "high-sounding" claims, perhaps you will also see quite a few research results claiming that green, pollution-free research yields can exceed the yields of chemical fertilizer cultivation. For example, a certain teacher from the Chinese Academy of Sciences often touts so-called ecological cultivation as having extremely high yields. But he only publicizes the high yields of ecological cultivation, without telling people how much agricultural input and labor cost is needed to invest in such yields. Agricultural cultivation also has to pay attention to efficiency. Vegetables currently cost 1 yuan per jin, but after so-called green cultivation the vegetables would need to cost 100 yuan per jin for farmers to recover their investment costs. Can such green production be promoted? And in the future, can costs be reduced? That is also unrealistic. After all, a large amount of manpower and material resources must be invested to achieve a yield level equal to that of chemical fertilizers. Therefore, in the foreseeable future, because yields cannot be achieved or costs cannot meet people's current needs, green food definitely cannot meet people's needs.
Second, in the distant future it may be possible to meet them. This is because future GMOs and modern breeding are expected to greatly increase crop yield levels. And they can achieve pest and disease resistance, obtaining high yields without chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Everyone should have heard that GM technology can give crops pest and disease resistance. Now, as the genetic analysis of yield composition becomes more and more thorough, crop yield control genes are also expected to be cloned one by one. That is to say, in the future, GM technology is very likely to make high yields possible, and through GM technology crops will also have pest and disease resistance. In this way, it will be very likely to realize the desire for both green production and high yields.
