Work and growing succulents seem to conflict a lot of the time, but after reading this article, Hui Zhang feels that nothing is truly opposed. Life is yours, and so are your choices~

I studied and worked in Beijing for eight years, and felt quite tired, as if life was always missing something. I rented a small place in Sihui and commuted to Baiziwan for work, no transfers needed, direct bus, about 40 minutes from leaving home to arriving at the office, which counts as very close.

The place was small, and the windowsill was small. The succulents I grew all died every winter, so I increasingly did not want to grow them anymore. Last year I came to Dujiangyan and felt this place is truly so livable, with clear mountains and beautiful waters. Winter does not get too cold, and summer does not get too hot!

A 10-minute walk to work! I can go home for lunch at noon! Can you believe it! And on top of that, this place is very suitable for growing plants!

Sitting at my workstation, I can see the scenery just by looking up. Each office has 4 people and an independent outer balcony. There is sunlight in the morning and no western sun in the afternoon, very suitable for succulents to get through summer.

The company is very beautiful, located in the old town, about a 10-minute walk from Dujiangyan Scenic Area, nestled by mountains and water. During the lunch break I can go climb the back hill and stroll around the Confucian Temple (tour groups often go to visit the Confucian Temple).

There is a pagoda on the back hill, with dense ancient trees. A 20-minute walk up the hill gets you there. The company really is right next to the mountain! I used to go to the Confucian Temple often; it is truly super quiet and peaceful.

There is a south-facing balcony here, and the company is very safe, so no fear of theft! In winter the succulents are all kept on the south-facing balcony, which has eaves, so no fear of them freezing, and they can still get sun.

Out the company's back door there is a tree-lined path up the mountain. Super awesome. If I leave half an hour early for work, I can take a stroll around it! My whole body feels comfortable! In summer it is especially cool, with no sun exposure at all!

These are all photos of the company campus. The environment is beyond words. There are many osmanthus trees, camellia trees, and gardenia trees, so you can basically see flowers in every season! But I still prefer looking at succulents!

The company is very safe, and I often move the succulents around to sun them! The ones above are all the company's succulents, basically all in large pots, because there is plenty of space to place them. At home it is different! At home it is only suitable for growing small succulents. But the condition is beautiful!
