Milan care tips: Master this one trick, and it will be hard for it not to bloom
When people hear the word "Milan", most think of the Italian city of Milan, but there is actually a plant also called Milan, and it is very well suited to being kept indoors! Today, Huahua is here to share the common care tips for Milan.
Milan is a plant that offers both beautiful foliage and flowers, and best of all, while it is blooming it gives off a particularly fresh scent, with its tiny flowers opening among the green leaves. Placing it at home is not only attractive but also purifies the air!
If you want Milan to bloom, the most important thing is sunlight, because it is a subtropical plant that likes to live in warm places, so we need to put it in a spot with plenty of sunlight, so that it can grow normally. Even in summer, do not let it stay in a shady place for long periods. Besides light, a well-ventilated environment is of course also essential, and in a light breeze we can enjoy Milan's fragrance even better!
Compared with other plants, Milan is relatively fond of fertilizer. Because it needs a large amount of nutrients to support it during blooming, the nutrients in the plant are nearly used up after flowering. If you do not replenish them in time, it will directly affect its future growth, so after it blooms we can appropriately apply phosphorus fertilizer.
Next comes watering. If you want Milan to grow well, you naturally have to learn to control water, otherwise too much moisture will not only cause root rot but also cause the leaves to drop. So we must restrain ourselves and wait until the potting soil is slightly dry before watering again, but if it dries out too severely, its leaves will start to turn yellow.
With proper care, Milan can bloom several times a year, and at this point appropriate pruning is the most important thing.
Milan grows quite fast and will constantly put out many new shoots, so any that are too weak and thin, as well as diseased branches, should be cut off. If the branches in the pot look too dense, do not hold back either! Only in this way can you ensure air circulation between the leaves, avoid excessive consumption of nutrients, promote blooming, and maintain the plant's shape.
Also, do not waste those healthy branches you cut off. Keep 2~3 leaves at the top of the branch, then remove all the leaves below and insert it into the soil, with the inserted depth about 1/2 of the cutting. Finally, place it in the sunlight to care for it, and before long you will have a small Milan plant!
