The Radermachera sinica (China doll) is green all year round, with glossy green leaves, and it carries a good meaning, so it is very common as a houseplant. What should you do if your Radermachera sinica drops its leaves? Let's look at the causes of leaf drop and the solutions!

What to do when a Radermachera sinica drops its leaves?

(1). Temperature too high

The suitable growing temperature for the Radermachera sinica is 20~30°C. In high heat, when the temperature is above 30°C, the plant will stop growing, and in serious cases it will drop its leaves.

Solution: Move it to a shady spot promptly, and spray water to lower the temperature.

(2). Insufficient light

The Radermachera sinica is a light-loving plant that is also fairly shade-tolerant, so it needs appropriate light, otherwise the leaves cannot carry out photosynthesis. If it does not receive light for a long time, the Radermachera sinica is prone to dropping its leaves.

Solution: In daily care, keep it in a spot with ventilation and bright, indirect light, and avoid direct sunlight. In cold winter, keep it in a spot with plenty of light.

(3). Lack of nutrients

When the Radermachera sinica lacks nutrients, it will grow poorly and may drop its leaves.

Solution: Add base fertilizer to the soil, and during the growing period apply appropriate topdressing, applying liquid fertilizer once a month to provide sufficient nutrients.

(4). Improper watering

Both overwatering and underwatering can make the Radermachera sinica drop its leaves. With overwatering, the roots become waterlogged and rot, and the leaves fall off. With underwatering, when the air is dry, the leaves have no water and will also drop.

Solution: When watering, keep the potting soil moist but not waterlogged. If you have watered too much, promptly place the Radermachera sinica in a well-ventilated spot and let the water evaporate as quickly as possible; in serious cases, you need to take it out of the pot and replant it. If you have watered too little, replenish the water promptly and mist the leaves often to keep them moist.
