How to grow and care for the dragon's beard tree
1. Soil
It prefers loose, fertile soil with good drainage and aeration. You can make it by mixing garden soil, leaf mold, decomposed organic fertilizer, and river sand in a ratio of 5:3:1:1.
2. Humidity
It likes moisture. Normally, you need to water from the top to keep the soil at a suitable level of moisture. As long as it is not too dry, it will not be affected much.
3. Temperature
The most suitable range for its growth is 20 to 28 degrees. If it is below 15 degrees or above 32 degrees, the plant will go dormant. To make the plant more robust, it is best not to exceed these limits.
4. Light
It also likes light, but not too strong. In summer the light is too strong, so you can shade it appropriately or adjust its position. In the other seasons, indirect light with a light intensity of about 40 to 50 percent is enough.
5. Fertilizer
Relatively speaking, it does not need much fertilizer. Just apply it during vigorous growth, generally two or three times a month, choosing a compound fertilizer.
6. Points to note
Besides the several environmental factors that need adjusting as described above, there are also pruning and repotting to pay attention to. As for pruning, you only need to cut off the yellowed and aging leaves and make slight adjustments according to the overall ornamental effect. As for repotting, repot once a year in April, prepare new soil (with the same requirements), and add some base fertilizer to support subsequent growth.
