How to Grow Baby's Breath? Planting Methods and Daily Care Tips
I. Growing Environment
1. Soil: Growing baby's breath requires loose, breathable, nutrient-rich, slightly alkaline sandy loam soil. Specifically, you can mix leaf mold, sandy soil, nutrient soil, and garden soil in a 3:2:3:2 ratio.
2. Watering: Keep the potting soil moist at ordinary times, and water promptly once the soil begins to dry out.
3. Temperature: Maintain the temperature between 10-25°C at ordinary times, and keep it between 5-12°C in winter.
4. Light: Baby's breath is slightly shade-tolerant, but it cannot grow in a dark environment for a long time. It needs plenty of sunlight to grow better.
II. Propagation Methods
1. Seed propagation: Baby's breath can be sown in early spring or from autumn onward. After sowing, it needs a temperature of 10-25°C and a relatively moist environment.
2. Cutting propagation: Baby's breath can be propagated by cuttings in spring. Choose hard branches for cuttings, cut them to 10-15cm, then insert them into the soil, water them a certain amount, and control the temperature at around 15°C and the humidity above 95%. It will take root before long.
III. Common Pests and Diseases
1. Leaf spot disease. Once discovered, promptly remove and destroy the diseased leaves, and spray with chlorothalonil or mancozeb.
2. Scale insects. They can be killed by spraying with omethoate solution.
