What to Do If a Goldfish Plant Gets Frostbite? Detailed Remedial Methods
1. Treatment Methods
After a goldfish plant gets frostbite, first move the plant indoors, pick off all the withered and yellowed leaves, then water the potting soil with water at about 20°C, but when watering, it is best to pour it slowly along the edge of the flower pot, and do not pour it all in at once, and also do not get too close to the roots, otherwise it will have the opposite effect, preventing the plant from quickly adapting to the temperature change. After water flows out from the bottom, water once more. The water temperature must never be too high.
2. Increase the Temperature
A goldfish plant will show signs of frostbite after two days at temperatures below 10°C, and its leaves will turn yellow first. So first adjust the temperature to around 15°C, and do not change the temperature suddenly from below 10°C to above 22°C; too large a temperature difference is not good for its recovery, so proceed gradually.
In winter, if the temperature can be maintained above 15°C, the goldfish plant can safely overwinter; but also be careful that the temperature does not exceed 28°C, otherwise it will cause its leaves to scorch.
3. Increase Light
After a goldfish plant gets frostbite, in addition to increasing the temperature, you can also place it in a sunny spot; since it is winter, there is no need to worry about it getting sunburned, and its flowering period is also in winter, and it needs plenty of sunlight before and after the flowering period, so that it can produce brightly colored and full blooms.
