Succulent leaves turning yellow: full analysis of causes and solutions

1. Replace the soil

Cause: if the chosen soil does not drain well enough, the water poured in cannot seep into the soil in time, so the succulent cannot get enough water, resulting in yellow leaves.

Solution: replace the soil with one that drains well for the succulent.

2. Reduce watering

Cause: watering the succulent too much at ordinary times causes water to accumulate in the soil, which affects the breathing of the plant's roots. Once the roots are damaged, their ability to absorb nutrients from the soil is hindered. And if the leaves do not have a sufficient supply of nutrients, they will turn yellow.

Solution: loosen the soil for the succulent, that is, carefully insert a shovel into the soil and shake it gently to loosen the soil so that the water in it can evaporate quickly. From then on, reduce the frequency of watering.

3. Increase light

Cause: if it is usually placed in too dark a place without sufficient light, it cannot synthesize chlorophyll normally, which will also cause the plant's leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: move the succulent to a spot with plenty of light for care.

Do not pull off all the succulent leaves as soon as you find them turning yellow. This is because succulent leaves store quite a lot of nutrients, and pulling them off directly wastes these nutrients for nothing. One or two leaves really do not hold much nutrients, but once there are many of them, the total amount of nutrients is also very large. You can wait until their nutrients have been absorbed and they begin to shrivel before pulling them off.
