Reasons and Solutions for Yellowing Leaves on Orange Jessamine
1. Increase Light
Cause: A long-term lack of light may prevent orange jessamine from properly synthesizing chlorophyll, and without chlorophyll, its leaves will turn yellow.
Solution: Place the orange jessamine in a spot indoors with plenty of light for care. During this period, it is best to rotate the pot at regular intervals to change the direction from which the plant receives light, so that it gets even light. This will let it grow more evenly and make it less prone to yellow leaves.
2. Pause Watering
Cause: Watering orange jessamine too much or too frequently will cause water to accumulate in the soil. If it cannot drain away in time, it will affect the roots' ability to absorb oxygen from the soil, thereby changing the respiration mode to anaerobic respiration and producing alcohol that causes root rot. Once the roots rot, it cannot normally absorb nutrients from the soil, and the leaves will turn yellow as a result.
Solution: First pause watering, then move it to a well-ventilated place, and loosen the potting soil or replace it with new, water-free potting soil. Afterward, wait until the soil dries out before watering again.
3. Water with Acidic Water
Cause: Orange jessamine is a flower that likes acidic soil. If it is often watered with alkaline water, it will likewise develop yellow leaves.
Solution: Use alum fertilizer water to irrigate it 3-5 times each year, or add one or two drops of salt-free vinegar to the water before watering. Then, when repotting, replace the soil with acidic soil for it.
