You grow quite a few flowers and plants at home, but they easily attract pests, which is quite annoying. Below are tips for killing pests in hot weather!

Common pests:

(1). Aphids

They gather on tender shoots, flower buds and the undersides of leaves, piercing and sucking plant sap, causing leaves to curl, wither and turn yellow.

(2). Spider mites

They occur most under high-temperature conditions and often gather in large numbers on the undersides of leaves to pierce and suck sap.

(3). Whiteflies

They gather on the undersides of leaves, piercing and sucking sap, with tender leaves suffering the most damage; in severe cases, the leaves wither and die and fall off.

(4). Scale insects

Affected plants grow slowly, and their branches and leaves wither and turn yellow. At the same time, the large amount of honeydew excreted by scale insects can also trigger sooty mold.

How to make insecticides:

(1). Garlic + chives + scallions

Ratio: garlic:chives:scallions, with a ratio of 1:1:1. Take 1 kilogram of each, then add water and mash the three into a paste. Then add 5 kilograms of water to 1 kilogram of the mixed raw material before use.

Effect: The prepared solution is used to water flowers or spray flowers, and it is very effective against many pests such as aphids, red spiders, scale insects and caterpillars.

(2). Scallions + garlic + chili peppers

Ratio: take scallions:garlic:chili peppers, with a ratio of 1:1:1. Take 50 grams of each, wrap them in gauze and mash them; the soaked-out solution can be used to spray flowers.

Effect: Very effective control against aphids and red spiders, generally sprayed before the season when pests and diseases are likely to occur.

(3). Tobacco

Take 20 grams of tobacco powder, add 500 grams of water, then soak it, and filter it after 24 hours. Add 0.02 soapy water to the filtered liquid, and 500 grams is enough.

Effect: It can kill aphids, red spiders and ants, and also has a disinfecting effect. Spraying the filtrate on the leaf surfaces with pests works very well. Spraying the filtrate without soapy water directly on the potting soil and around the bottom of the pot can effectively kill pests in the soil.

(4). Other pest control methods

Garlic paste and chili pepper water: it can kill both insects and mold completely, and soaking in warm water can halve the time.

Vinegar: gently wiping pests with a vinegar solution can kill all the insects, and at the same time can also make the leaves glossy and green again.

Orange peel: it can control leaf-eating pests.
