Pruning roses promotes the sprouting of new branches, and at the same time old branches and weak branches need to be cut off, so that nutrients can be more concentrated, the flowers will be bigger, and the plant will grow better. Let's take a look at exactly how to prune roses!

Daily rose pruning:

(1). Prune blind branches. Blind branches are branches that have stopped growing and will not produce buds. They only consume nutrients, so they should be cut off as early as possible.

(2). Cut off branches that grow inward. These branches are bad for internal ventilation, so cutting them off provides better airflow, reduces pests and diseases, helps the upper branches sprout, and promotes the formation of flower buds.

(3). Cut off old branches, weak branches, dead leaves and diseased leaves to prevent further disease infection, improve the disease resistance of roses, reduce pests and diseases, and let roses grow vigorously, while also concentrating nutrients for other branches.

Post-bloom pruning of roses:

1. Single-flower roses

(1). When the rose flower is about to fade, find a spot below the flower with 2~3 leaves above it and cut there, at a 45° angle. Pruning this way promotes reblooming.

(2). Find a spot above 5 leaves, at a distance of about 0.5cm, and cut there, also at a 45° angle. Pruning this way promotes the sprouting of new branches.

2. Multi-head roses

(1). Cut below the flower bud, close to the node, at a distance of about 0.5cm from the node, to promote reblooming.

(2). Cut below the flower bud at a separating branch, to promote the growth of more new branches.
