Changing the water for hydroponic flowers is a key step in ensuring the healthy growth of water-cultured flowers, so what are the reasons for changing the water regularly and the care techniques for hydroponic flowers?

Reasons for regularly changing the water for hydroponic flowers:

First, the conditions for plant growth are mainly water, nutrients and air. The water and nutrients in hydroponic flowers are absolutely sufficient to meet their needs, but the oxygen content in the water will gradually decrease as the flowers grow. When it decreases to a certain level, it will affect the growth of the flowers, so the water must be changed to replenish oxygen.

Second, the roots of hydroponic flowers growing in water absorb nutrients from the water on the one hand, and on the other hand release some organic matter into the water, as well as waste or toxins, which settle in the water. During soil cultivation, these organic substances mainly dissolve nutrients in the soil that are not easily absorbed by the root system, while waste and toxins are distributed in the spaces of the soil or flow out through the drainage holes at the bottom of the pot, and will not be absorbed by the root system to affect the normal growth of the flowers.

When flowers are grown hydroponically, these organic substances, waste or toxins all settle in the water and are very easily absorbed again by the plants. This repeated cycle is not conducive to the growth of the flowers.

Third, hydroponic flowers often use nutrient fertilizers. Apart from the portion of nutrients absorbed by the root system, the rest remains in the water. When the residual substances reach a certain amount, they will harm the growth of the flowers.

Fourth, the roots of hydroponic flowers produce a kind of mucus. When there is a lot of mucus, it not only affects the root system's absorption of nutrients but also pollutes the water.

Techniques for changing the water for hydroponic flowers:

In general, hydroponic flowers only need to have their water changed about once every two weeks. Of course, this should also be flexibly adjusted according to specific circumstances.

Change the water regularly according to different flower species and their adaptability to hydroponic conditions. Some flowers, especially aquatic or water-loving flowers, are very well suited to a hydroponic environment and can quickly grow new roots after being grown hydroponically, and grow well. For these flowers, the interval between water changes can be longer.

There are also some flowers that are not very well suited to the hydroponic environment after being grown hydroponically, growing slowly or even having root rot. For these flowers, in the early stage of just entering the hydroponic environment, the water should be changed frequently, even once every 1 to 2 days. Only after they grow new roots and resume normal growth can the frequency of water changes be gradually reduced.
