A new gardening variety, Silver Antler, has arrived; are you ready to get one?
On May 2, official information confirmed that the Gesneriaceae flower variety Silver Antler (Primulina 'Silver Antler') successfully completed international registration! It is a new hybrid variety jointly bred by Xu Hui of the Wuhan Institute of Landscape Architecture Science, along with Huang Sheng, Lyu Wenjun and others from the cooperating unit Enshi Dongsheng Plant Development Co., Ltd.
"Silver Antler" has obtained a certification certificate issued by the international authority for registering new Gesneriaceae plant varieties, The Gesneriad Society, and its variety name has received international certification.
This is the first internationally recognized new variety to emerge from the Wuhan Institute of Landscape Architecture Science in 45 years, and it is also an important achievement and breakthrough for the institute in research on new landscape plant varieties.
"Silver Antler" is a new hybrid variety obtained by crossing the Gesneriaceae Primulina species Chrysops (Primulina eburnea) and Primulina obtusisepala. The female parent, Chrysops (Primulina eburnea), is characterized by abundant flowers and a full plant shape, while the male parent, Primulina obtusisepala, has silver leaf veins; 'Silver Antler' combines the excellent traits of both parents, with green leaves and silver leaf veins shaped like deer antlers, hence the name Silver Antler. "Its plant shape is full, its leaves are lush, its flowers are dense, and its posture is graceful. The flowers are purplish red, either standing elegantly above the leaves or quietly blooming among the leaves."
"Silver Antler" not only has excellent ornamental value, but also possesses strong adaptability, able to adapt to the climate characteristics of a wide range of regions, and can be promoted and applied in various areas. Silver Antler also has good shade tolerance, making it very suitable for placement and decoration in homes, offices and other locations where lighting conditions are not ideal.
