Grow wax begonias this way, and before you know it, they'll fill a whole pot
To sow wax begonias, choose a pot that is well aerated and well drained and slightly shallow, along with loose, nutrient-rich soil, and pick April or May as the sowing time. When sowing, first put the coarser soil in the lower half of the container, then mix the seeds with finer soil and scatter it over the surface of the potting soil, and finally cover it with a layer of plastic film.
1. Choose a container
For wax begonias, you should choose a pot that is well aerated and well drained and slightly shallow. After choosing it, you still need to wash it clean and disinfect it before it can be used. In addition, before sowing, prop up the drainage hole at the bottom of the container with a piece of tile, so that water can drain smoothly when we water.
2. Choose a growing medium
The principle for choosing this is fairly fixed: generally it should be loose and contain plenty of nutrients. We can mix leaf mold and garden soil together for use. However, after choosing the growing medium, it cannot be used right away; we still have to put it under the sun to disinfect it, which helps the seeds germinate. In addition, we should also use a sieve or similar item to roughly separate them into coarse and fine parts.
3. Choosing the time
Generally, the suitable time for sowing is from April to May.
4. Actual sowing
First, put the coarser growing medium in the lower half of the container, and put the finer part on top. Generally, the soil should not be filled too full; it is enough for the soil surface to be about two cm below the rim of the pot. Then, mix the seeds with the finer growing medium and scatter it over the surface of the potting soil; there is no need to cover it with more soil. Next, keep the soil moist; you can use thin glass or plastic film to retain moisture. Then, keep the temperature at 15 to 22 degrees. After waiting about a week, the seeds will sprout.
