I believe most succulent enthusiasts have had their succulents damaged by pests at home, and one of the particularly hard-to-eliminate pests is the scale insect. And if we don't discover them in time, these scale insects can easily infest the succulents (if the ventilation environment at home is good and watering is properly controlled, other fungal diseases are less likely to occur).

Moreover, plants infected with disease not only need to be cleaned up again and repotted, but also go through a very long rooting-in period. Especially for lazier plant enthusiasts, if scale insects appear on the stems and leaves of succulents, they may not want to spend a lot of time caring for them, so I personally think that doing prevention work in advance is also very important.

So we need to carefully check every time we water whether there are traces of feeding on the roots, stems, leaves, and growth points of the succulents (because the epidermal cells at the growth points are thinner and therefore less compact, especially when watered too much or exposed to too little light, they are very easily eaten by scale insects).

One method of preventing scale insects is to add a certain amount of fungicidal solution to the soil mix and properly control moisture. After all, in a dry, medicated environment, scale insects still find it hard to survive. Of course, gently pushing aside the surface layer of the potting soil and regularly checking whether the succulent's root system and dead leaves (regularly clearing dead leaves can also prevent scale insects) have scale insects is also fine.

Remember one thing: if we can discover the symptoms appearing on succulents as early as possible, then there are still many solutions!
