Lucky bamboo has an appealing name and graceful form; plant it in a pretty pot and it looks lovely anywhere in the home. In fact, you do not need to buy new lucky bamboo, it can also be propagated from a single cutting, and the method is simple.

Lucky bamboo is often grown in water, but it also looks very attractive grown in soil. You can propagate it directly from cuttings, and the advantage is that it is easy to do, with the good results of getting several plants at once and fast growth with quick sprouting. As long as the temperature is suitable, cuttings can basically be taken all year round.

The specific method for rooting lucky bamboo cuttings:

1. The lucky bamboo cutting must not have leaves on it. Before rooting, as mentioned, we should choose a robust, undamaged stem section as the cutting, about 10 cm, with about 3-4 nodes.

2. Use a sharp knife to trim the lower end into a slanted cut, which increases the contact area and helps rooting. Insert it into a sand bed or half mud-sand soil, burying 2 nodes in the soil, and water once a day to keep the soil moist.

For routine care, place the pot in a wind-sheltered, shady spot. Generally, roots will form in about 30 days, and after that you will not need to buy new ones, and you will have several pots of beautiful lucky bamboo right away.
