What are the reasons a gardenia does not bloom?
1. Improper watering
Cause: Watering the gardenia too little will cause the plant to lack water and be unable to bloom; watering it too much may also cause root rot, making it difficult to bloom.
Solution: If you usually water too little, give it a bit more water, but be careful not to water too much at one time. If you usually water too much, place some stones under its flower pot, then put it in a well-ventilated environment and care for it slowly. Once it recovers, water it according to a scientific method.
2. Improper fertilizing
Cause: Giving the gardenia too little fertilizer will cause the plant to lack enough nutrients and be unable to bloom; applying too much fertilizer may affect its root system and also make it difficult to bloom.
Solution: If you usually apply too little fertilizer, appropriately increase the frequency of fertilizing, but use diluted fertilizer, preferably a fertilizer with a higher content of phosphorus and potassium. If you usually fertilize too much, flush the soil with a large amount of clean water to wash out the excess fertilizer, then put it in a ventilated place to dry. Once it recovers, fertilize it according to a scientific method.
3. Improper light
Cause: Exposing the gardenia to sunlight for too long will cause the plant to be sunburned and thus be unable to bloom; giving it too little light will affect its normal growth and also make it difficult to bloom.
Solution: If the light duration is usually too long, put it in a semi-shaded place to care for it, and reduce the daily exposure time. If it lacks light, put it in a place with sufficient sunlight to care for it.
