Falling in love with coffee is not just because of its rich and mellow coffee aroma, but even more because of the comfortable and leisurely environment the coffee aroma brings. A cup of coffee, a bouquet of flowers, a book, elegant and wastefully spent, sitting there for a whole afternoon.

The friend visiting today, I think, must also be hopelessly in love with coffee. While doing perfectly well in real estate, he turned around and built a hotel with coffee in China's No. 1 Oil Painting Village.

Does real estate make money?

It makes money, a lot of money.

Then why start a hotel?

Hotels are fun, real estate is not fun.

Many people do not understand Xu Wei. With a real estate business this successful, why take the risk of running a hotel?

He is not a young man anymore, so why is he still so impulsive?Is it really just because it is fun?

I am Xu Wei, a new Shenzhener. In fact, I heard these voices of incomprehension 11 years ago. Back then, I gave up the master's degree in law I had already been admitted to and came to Shenzhen alone to make my way.

It was as if I suddenly went from being the kind of child other families envied to being a joke.

Shenzhen has so many talented people, you have no competitiveness;

Studying steadily is the proper path, stop always dreaming of getting rich;

When you cannot afford to eat, do not come crying.

Especially when the 2008 subprime mortgage crisis hit, terms like "unemployment, plummeting housing prices, collapsing stock market" suddenly became all the rage.

At that time I was working at a securities company. Many people thought I had hit the worst possible moment and was finished.

But I felt it was the best possible moment.I seized the opportunity amid the crisis and entered a real estate company.

Shenzhen has a city slogan: "Come to Shenzhen, and you are a Shenzhener."

What this place never lacks is opportunity.

Here people created the world-famous "Shenzhen Speed" - finance, IT, foreign trade, biology, manufacturing and other industries rank among the top nationwide.

What this place never lacks is inclusiveness.

Natives are a minority in Shenzhen, talent from all over is the mainstream, and Mandarin is the common language. I feel very fortunate to have boarded this fast-moving city train.

In the blink of an eye, more than a decade passed, and I became a real estate businessman of some repute. I developed multiple residential projects in Shenzhen and my hometown Jiangxi, and became what everyone saw as a rich man.

But although real estate is very profitable, it is really not fun.The ways to play it are no more than those few - acquire land, build houses, sell, cash out.

So when I encountered Plateno Group, this Chinese hotel group combined with Jin Jiang International Group and ranked among the top five in the world,I decided to let myself do something different.

Some people find it very strange. Real estate is going perfectly well, so why take the risk.

But what I pursue is not to let myself fall into a day-after-day safe mode.

We work hard, we travel everywhere,

we keep exercising, we read words,

we appreciate art, we enjoy good food,

all so that we can keep as much curiosity about this world as possible.

Opening my own hotel, making friends with people from all over, encountering all kinds of interesting souls and stories - just thinking about it, I find it so much fun.

Thus Shenzhen Zhe Coffee Hotel (Dafen Branch) was born.

In the wide and narrow alleys,

everywhere are painters immersed in their own worlds.

These painters are all fun people.

Sometimes they are so focused that when they finish the last stroke and turn around to see a dense crowd of people, of all skin colors, they slap their heads and laugh: "Hey, how did I get surrounded."

The painters coming and going, whether they paint figures or landscapes, whether modern style or decadent Gothic style, and whether meeting for the first time or already acquainted,as long as they meet, they are friends.

When happy, they greet each other: "Celebrating New Year again?"

They describe the feeling of painting a work they are extremely satisfied with as celebrating the New Year.

"So happy, so fun, just like celebrating the New Year as a child."

Some painters only paint Van Gogh. Their "Starry Night" and "Sunflowers" will, a few days later, appear in souvenir shops beside the Van Gogh Museum on the other side of the ocean.

The painter who has painted the longest has been copying Van Gogh for more than 20 years,and people call them "Chinese Van Gogh."

During the year of preparing Zhe Coffee Hotel, sometimes when these painters passed by and saw me, they would ask: "When will your cafe be finished? I have been thinking about it for a long time."

I would say: "Soon, soon. When the time comes, I will invite you to drink coffee."

They mistakenly thought this was a cafe. I deliberately did not burst the bubble, waiting to give them a surprise when it opened.

Coffee culture is the most brilliant thematic feature of Zhe Coffee Hotel.

A coffee-colored space, the soft glow of retro oil lamps,

European-style leather chairs and sofas,

the aroma of coffee drifting along the entrance out to the street,

and without looking closely, you really would think it was a cafe.

The coffee bar at the entrance is integrated with the Checkin area.

The simple and elegant European-style fireplace pairs best with mellow coffee,

bookshelves are interspersed among the coffee tables and chairs,

with a large collection of good books for guests to browse freely.

The restaurant is like a coffee forest,

with wood and rust original colors creating the true character of a forest,

the booth seats and dining chairs along the windows are made into "green leaves,"

and above are richly colored coffee bean lamps.

I like rainy dusk, putting on an old Tom song, "Time."

In that deep, low voice, watching pedestrians outside the misty glass pass slowly by under umbrellas.

A man wearing a painter's cap pushed the door open and walked in while sniffing the coffee aroma.

He strolled to the fireplace, settled into a seat among the coffee tables and chairs, and casually picked up a copy of "Ulysses" from the bookshelf and began reading.

Suddenly, as if waking from a dream, he broke away from the world of the book, checked the time, 9:30 at night.

He instructed the waiter to notify him to attend tomorrow's themed painting exhibition, then took the book and went upstairs.

Passing through the corridor hung with artistic portraits,

as soon as he entered, what met his eyes were warm-colored curtains and a coffee-colored bed runner,

the mural on the wall painted with famous places where coffee beans are produced,

on the tea table were drip bag coffee and fragrant tea bags,

and it seemed the aroma of coffee drifted through every crack.

For every guest room, we conducted strict soundproofing tests.

For every set of bedding, cotton textiles, and toiletries, we hold ourselves to star-rated standards.

The artistically distinctive bedside reading lamps and designer lounge chairs are most suited to lazily reading for a while.

At the 24-hour Cafe + Hotel Zhe Coffee, "just staying one night" is not nearly enough.

I hope you can meet fun people here, make friends and gather, chat and talk; I hope that in the aroma of coffee, everyone's body and mind can also become relaxed and at ease.

In the lobby, we hold themed activities year-round such as floral art training and coffee latte art.

What I look forward to most isthe themed painting exhibition held in cooperation with Dafen Oil Painting Village.Fun artists from all paths gather together, and just thinking about it feels extremely interesting.

If I had not run a hotel, I would not have met these fun people and things.

I do not want to let myself fall into a day-after-day safe mode. I want to always keep curiosity about this world.

Life should be a little more relaxed,

and the world should also become a little more fun.
