White tea has the saying "one-year tea, three-year medicine, seven-year treasure," and the folk tradition of boiling aged white tea to prevent and treat colds has endured for a long time; Zhou Lianggong of the Qing dynasty said in Min Xiaojie: "Baihao Yinzhen, produced in the Hongxue Cave of Taimu Mountain, is cold in nature, has the same effects as rhinoceros horn, and is a miracle medicine for treating measles. Its price equals that of gold."

Modern academic research shows that white tea has excellent health benefits: Academician Chen Zhongmao believes that the flavonoid compounds in white tea retain quercetin well during processing, are an important component of vitamin P, and also have a clear effect of reducing vascular permeability, thereby helping to lower blood pressure.

In the 1990s, the Fujian Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine conducted experiments on the health benefits of white tea (Bai Mudan). The results showed that white tea has significant effects in lowering lipid peroxide levels in liver and brain tissues, enhancing the body's cellular immune function, reducing serum total cholesterol and triglycerides, enhancing the body's liver-protecting function, and lowering lipids and aiding weight loss.

In 2011, led by Professor Liu Zhonghua, five famous institutions including the National Research Center of Engineering Technology for Utilization of Functional Ingredients from Botanicals were integrated to study Fuding white tea (Baihao Yinzhen and Bai Mudan) as the research object. After more than a year and dozens of rigorous scientific analyses and demonstrations, scientific research results proved that Fuding white tea has significant effects in beauty and anti-aging, reducing inflammation and clearing internal heat, lowering lipids and aiding weight loss, regulating and lowering blood sugar, regulating uric acid, protecting the liver, and resisting viruses.

On the other hand, the rich intrinsic substances of Fuding white tea have a positive impact on human health. Professor Wang Yuefei of the College of Agriculture and Biotechnology at Zhejiang University pointed out that white tea extract has a preventive effect on the growth of bacteria that cause staphylococcal infections, streptococcal infections, pneumonia, and other details; its free radical content is low, and it has the effect of delaying aging.

Of course, only Fuding white tea with authentic raw materials, orthodox craftsmanship, and good storage has the above health benefits. If you drink white tea that has been poorly made or has become damp, it will not help and may instead cause harm.

Natural craftsmanship, comfortable taste

The processing of Fuding white tea involves only two steps: withering and drying. Moreover, traditional white tea is neither pan-fired nor rolled, so it neither destroys the original nutrients of the tea leaves nor adds other ingredients. From fresh leaves to dried finished tea, the whole process is natural, ecological, primitive, and simple.

New white tea has a comfortable taste; Yinzhen is clear and elegant, while Mudan is mellow. Aged white tea has a lifted aroma and thick liquor, with rich aroma types such as medicinal aroma, pekoe aroma, and honey aroma, while the unpleasant bitterness and astringency are traditionally not prominent in the white tea category. Its palatability is very high, and everyone can accept it.

Therefore, Fuding white tea has the unique charm of "a lotus emerging from clear water, naturally free of carving," with natural craftsmanship and a natural taste, naturally beautiful.

Chinese white tea: why does Fuding white tea take the lead?

When it comes to Chinese white tea, everyone thinks of Fuding, Zhenghe, and Jianyang white tea. But today, "the world's white tea looks to China, and China's white tea looks to Fuding." The output and market visibility of Fuding white tea are far higher than those of white tea from other regions. Why? It is a long story, but it must be told briefly.

The development trajectories of these three major white teas in history will not be discussed further here; but there is one key piece of information that cannot be ignored, and it is this key point that has kept Fuding white tea's trend in the domestic market rising ever since: in 2007, the Fuding municipal government established and began the domestic revival path of Fuding white tea.

With government support for building a regional brand, tea farmers and tea enterprises certainly did not want to be outdone in reputation either, and they all made efforts to build Fuding white tea into a local distinctive calling card. Resource support and utilization, market promotion and publicity, tea planting and processing, and other aspects are all closely linked and mutually reinforcing, jointly advancing the domestic market visibility of Fuding white tea and the layout of its industrial chain.

To give a simple example: from then on there were three brothers doing business overseas, named Fuding, Zhenghe, and Jianyang, each successful in his career; suddenly one day, the child Fuding felt that the overseas market was shrinking, turned back to his hometown to develop his career, and received full support from the villagers, gradually gaining momentum; ten years later, Fuding was flourishing domestically, and the other brothers, who realized it only later, could only look on and try to catch up.

According to statistics from the China Tea Marketing Association, in 2016 the national total output of white tea was 22,491.15 tons, of which Fujian Province's white tea output reached 18,500 tons, accounting for 82.25% of the national total. The combined white tea output of Fuding, Zhenghe, and Jianyang accounted for 96.05% of Fujian Province's total white tea output; among them, Fuding City's white tea output was 11,364 tons; Zhenghe white tea output was 5,500 tons; Jianyang white tea output was 905 tons.
