Nertera granadensis, also known as coral moss, bead plant, or Grenada nertera, is a dwarf evergreen herb in the family Rubiaceae and genus Nertera, growing in clumps. Its stems creep, and its leaves are densely opposite, often rooting at the nodes; the leaves are broadly ovate, 4-8 mm long, light green, and slightly succulent.

Nertera granadensis

Nertera granadensis is native to many mountainous regions of the Southern Hemisphere. It prefers shady, cool, and humid environments, and dislikes direct strong sunlight; in summer it needs ventilation and coolness. The growing temperature for Nertera granadensis is 10-20°C, and it requires sandy soil with good permeability and high humus content.

Nertera granadensis

It is generally propagated by sowing and division. Sowing is done in February to March; division is done in August, and after splitting, the plants should be potted immediately and placed in a sunny environment. The potting soil is a mixture of peat soil and decomposed horse manure. The environment must remain shaded in all four seasons, and strong light exposure is not allowed. Water by the immersion method to avoid water falling on the leaves and causing the plant to rot; in summer the potting soil should be moist, while in winter it should be slightly dry. After the fruit forms, it must be ensured that there is no water on the plant, otherwise the fruit will rot. The winter temperature is around 5°C.
