Most flower lovers like money trees, especially since merchants make money trees look very unique, mostly using cuttings from branches with nice shapes, but unfortunately flower lovers do not know how to care for them, and it is either yellow leaves or root rot. Let's see how they care for them incorrectly.

1. Overwatering

Most flower lovers' money trees have yellow leaves because of too much water, the potting soil lacks oxygen, the roots cannot breathe normally, and root rot is a matter of minutes. What is even more frightening is that some root rot does not look obvious, with just a bit of yellow leaves. You think there is no problem? In fact, it may not be saveable!

If your money tree's young leaves turn yellow, then you must stop watering, improve ventilation and control water, check whether the roots and stems have become soft, and keep the potting soil slightly dry.

2. What does a money tree with drought-induced yellowing look like?

If you do not water for a long time, the money tree will also have yellow leaves, but this kind of yellow is also easy to distinguish from the yellow above. Drought-yellowed leaves are dull and wilted, usually the old leaves turn yellow, and the plant will drop leaves.

You need to spray water more, wait until it recovers slightly before watering, and do not rush to give water.

3. The care environment is too dark

Although the money tree is not tolerant of strong sun and is relatively shade-tolerant, its growing environment cannot be too dark. It needs bright light. If it is too dark, the color of the leaves will become yellow-green, and even the old leaves will be yellow-green.

You must let the money tree gradually receive light and slowly adapt to an environment with a certain amount of light. Do not move it outside for direct sun all at once.

4. Random fertilizing causes yellow leaves

The money tree does not need too much fertilizer. If you give a little base fertilizer when potting, that is best. It likes light fertilizer, so apply light fertilizer sparingly.

Take special care not to randomly pour tea dregs or coffee grounds into the money tree's pot, as that will burn the roots and easily cause yellow leaves and leaf drop.

5. The environment has too much dust

If the environment where you care for it has too much dust, or the money tree has not been sprayed with water for years, dust will also accumulate. This affects the plant's photosynthesis, so flower lovers need to wipe it themselves with a soft, damp cloth.

6. Unsuitable temperature

The money tree likes a warm and slightly moist environment. If the winter temperature is below 5 degrees, it will suffer cold damage, and yellow leaves and leaf drop can also be caused by cold damage.

Of course, if it is placed in direct sunlight, or if the environment is not ventilated and becomes stuffy and hot, it will also make the plant's leaves turn yellow.

7. Yellow leaves from leaf spot disease on the money tree

Leaf spot disease will cause yellow leaves, but that is a disease, caused by pathogens or improper care. On the leaf surface you can see irregular yellow-brown spots one by one, and if untreated they will turn gray-brown. By then the entire money tree will be infected.

As shown in the picture above, this is leaf spot disease. Overwatering makes it easy to get the disease.

The method to deal with this leaf spot disease is simple: cut off the diseased leaves, strengthen ventilation and light penetration, the environment must not be stuffy and hot, and the potting soil must not have standing water.

For more serious cases, spraying medicine is needed. Of course, the earlier this is discovered, the better. For spraying, generally choose thiophanate-methyl and thiophanate-methyl, etc. It is usually once a week, and about three sprays are enough.

8. Leaves rot and turn yellow

If the situation below occurs, then you should reflect on yourself. The money tree also wants to accuse you of murder!

Leaves rotting. Drooping, looking dejected, what is going on?

Look carefully at the picture below, and you will find that one leaf has rotted, and the roots and stems have also begun to turn black. This needs to be dealt with as early as possible.

Clean up the diseased leaves in time, and no diseased leaves or diseased branches can remain in the potting soil. Feel whether the roots and stems have become soft. If the degree of softening is too great, there is no saving it. The rescue method also requires ventilation. A money tree with root rot can only be repotted. Pull it out, cut off the rotten roots, and remove the rotten leaves and rotten branches as well. Let the wounds dry, then repot in slightly moist soil. (Dip in a little rooting powder before repotting to make rooting easier.)
