Speaking of invasive species, I think most friends absolutely dislike them, especially farming friends, because most of these invasive species are weeds. Once they grow at the edges of fields, orchards and other crop and cash crop areas, they will inevitably cause reduced yields or even total crop failure for crops and cash crops, making all the hard work of farming friends go to waste. So these invasive weeds are utterly detested. However, there are always some exceptions. Some invasive weeds not only did not make farming friends dislike them, but instead became their "cash cow." Below, the author will share one such invasive weed with everyone.

Madeira vine (Anredera cordifolia) is one of the many invasive plants. Speaking of it, many friends may not have heard much about it, but if you say its other name, many friends may have heard of it, and that is "Teng San Qi" (Anredera cordifolia). I believe many farming friends in the south should have heard of Teng San Qi; it is another name for the invasive plant Madeira vine.

Madeira vine is native to Southeast Asia and South America. It was introduced to China from Southeast Asia in the 1970s and later escaped to become a wild weed. When Madeira vine first entered China, because it had no natural enemies, it grew very quickly, with growth reaching several meters, and it is also a twining vine plant, so crops, fruit trees and the like were often covered by it, causing disasters.

However, unexpectedly, it is precisely this fast-growing invasive weed that easily causes disasters that has become a "cash cow" for farming friends in China.

The tender leaves of Madeira vine are a first-class wild vegetable (now it has become a vegetable). It is easy to cultivate, has few pest and disease problems, is highly nutritious and tastes good, and is rich in vitamin A and vitamin C. In addition, Madeira vine also has very high medicinal value. According to records, the bulbils, leaves and roots of Madeira vine can all be used as medicine, with effects such as nourishing the body, strengthening the waist and knees, dissipating phlegm, promoting blood circulation, and strengthening the stomach and protecting the liver, among various other effects. Therefore, it has also become a natural green health-care and medicinal food.

Precisely because Madeira vine has these values, some quick-witted people began to cultivate it specially. It is understood that Madeira vine has the characteristics of fast growth and high yield. Basically, about 30 days after planting, Madeira vine can be harvested at any time, and after 2 months it enters the peak production period. On average, each plant can have 300 to 400 leaves picked per month, and it can be harvested in all four seasons. Moreover, Madeira vine is a perennial vine plant that can be harvested for several years. Most importantly, Madeira vine is easy to cultivate, has few pest and disease problems, and can be managed extensively, which is very worry-free.

According to farming friends who cultivate Madeira vine, one mu of land can generally plant 3000 Madeira vine plants. With good management, about 3000 kg of Madeira vine leaves can be harvested in a year. Now the market price of Madeira vine leaves is about 20 yuan per jin. In addition to the leaves, the bulbils on the stems of Madeira vine are 80 yuan per jin. So after excluding costs, one mu can earn about 50,000 yuan per year, and it can be harvested for many years. Therefore, Madeira vine can indeed be considered a "cash cow" for farming friends.
