Leaf cuttings, as one of the important ways to propagate succulents, are a truly magical method. First, we can twist off plump, healthy leaves from the succulent for leaf cuttings, especially for beginners just starting out; if you want to grow new succulents yourself, you can also start with leaf cuttings. Now let's take a look at the wonders of nature!

First we need to know that for leaves that have just successfully grown small buds from leaf cuttings, water supplementation is far more important than fertilizer nutrients, especially once the leaves grow new roots, the potting soil needs to be kept moist. Of course, the speed at which leaf cuttings produce new plants still depends on the growing environment and the succulent variety, generally between 10-30 days.

Of course, preparing the soil medium is also very important. I personally use the simplest ratio: peat soil 50%, coarse sand 25%, granules 25%. This kind of soil mix is best for water retention and looseness, so the proportion of granules should not be too large, which can also help avoid the roots of leaf-cutting seedlings drying out.

Especially the newly grown roots, if not planted in the soil mix but directly exposed to the air, will quickly dry out, which is also the main reason most leaves fail to grow roots. So for granules, it is best to choose charcoal, coarse sand, perlite, etc. After all, the more granules, the better the water permeability of the soil mix.

The soil mix medium must be prepared before leaf-cutting the new succulents; after all, leaving it in the sun to disinfect in advance is also a good choice.
