String of Pearls (Senecio rowleyanus), I have introduced it in a previous article, and from the comments of friends, it is clear that many of them are quite fond of this plant. String of Pearls has round and small leaves, just like green pearls, which is why people call it String of Pearls.

Friends who have just gotten to know String of Pearls may not know that it actually does bloom! Moreover, String of Pearls also belongs to a type of succulent plant, and its growth habits are much the same as those of succulents: because the leaves are full of water, it does not need frequent watering.

The watering pattern is the same as that of many succulents. Although we should not water frequently, we also cannot leave String of Pearls in a dry growing environment for long periods, so keeping it watered 1 to 3 times a week is enough.

Caring for String of Pearls is actually much the same as for succulents: it cannot be exposed to strong sun, otherwise it easily gets sunburned. Especially in summer, when the temperature exceeds 35 degrees, it needs proper shading to avoid the leaves being sunburned or dried out.

Now let me share with you how we should care for String of Pearls so that it produces cute, small flowers. Although String of Pearls is generally grown as a foliage plant, it can also produce lovely little flowers! The flowers have a faint fragrance when smelled.

No matter the season, the optimal care temperature for String of Pearls needs to be kept between 13 and 27 degrees. It should have warm sunlight and be given the water it needs at any time. If it is summer, we need to provide proper shading and also keep good ventilation for String of Pearls.

String of Pearls does not need frequent fertilizing. Spring and autumn are its peak growing seasons, so you can give it 1 to 2 rounds of dilute fertilizer each month, at half the usual concentration; do not fertilize in summer and winter. To encourage String of Pearls to bloom, it is best to keep it on a south- or west-facing windowsill, giving it about 3 hours of direct light or more ample indirect light each day.

The most important point is that our String of Pearls is also very afraid of waterlogging, so we absolutely must not let water accumulate in its pot.
