These days more people are buying flowers, and more and more vendors are selling them too. Whether you buy online or at a flower shop, even if you don't know much, don't ask the owner these questions. Once you say them, the owner knows you're a beginner, and you're easy to "rip off"!

1. Is this flower easy to grow?

I believe this is a question most flower lovers ask when buying flowers. When we see a flowering plant with bright, gorgeous blooms, no matter what variety it is, we want to ask whether it's easy to grow, and then we can take it home to care for. In fact, no matter what the flower is, the owner will say it's easy to grow. When buying flowers, it's best to ask about the flower's name, habits, and care methods, which is a bit better.

2. Succulents blooming

Nowadays flower shops carry all kinds of succulents, and many succulents look stunning after they bloom. If you get lost in the beauty of a blooming succulent, that may be the start of you falling down the rabbit hole. Succulent lovers all know that succulents blooming isn't actually a good thing: blooming consumes a lot of nutrients and easily causes the succulent to become leggy and weak. Some succulents even die after blooming. Genera such as Sempervivum, Echeveria, and Sinocrassula are all prone to dying after blooming.

3. Don't be fooled by the bright appearance of flowers

Generally speaking, the plants in a flower shop all look very perky, with glossy leaves and gorgeous blooms. Ask the owner, and they'll say they're easy to grow, that as long as you water them well they'll grow fine. If you believe that, you've fallen into the trap. You'll find that within a few days of bringing them home, they wilt and turn yellow. In fact, many plants with lots of flowers have been sprayed with a shine agent, which is what we see as the glossy leaf color. This makes it hard for the leaves to breathe, so they don't grow well.

Actually, if the leaves of the plants in our home lose their shine, we can spray the leaves with diluted beer. This can make the leaves very glossy and also acts as a foliar fertilizer.

4. Foam in the flower pot

For many potted flowers, some vendors put foam inside the pot. They'll tell you it's for good air and drainage, but in fact many vendors do it to save costs, so they can use much less nutrient soil. So when buying potted flowers, we still need to pay attention.

Of course, what's said above is only the practice of some individual vendors. We can't condemn everyone, but as the saying goes, you can't be too careful. We believe most sellers are still very trustworthy.

If you want to grow flowers well, buying them is key. When buying flowers, ask more about the flower's habits, care, and so on. Don't ask questions like whether the flower is easy to grow or whether the blooms look nice. Many times you still need to judge for yourself.
