Reasons and Solutions for Yellowing Leaves on Umbrella Papyrus
1. Trim the roots and replant
Cause: If the root system of umbrella papyrus is damaged, its absorption of nutrients will be affected. And being unable to absorb enough nutrients will cause the plant's leaves to turn yellow.
Solution: Take the umbrella papyrus out of the substrate, check the roots, find the blackened and rotted roots and cut them off. Then place it in fresh medium for care.
2. Add fertilizer
Cause: This situation is similar to the previous one, as both are caused by insufficient nutrients leading to yellowing leaves on umbrella papyrus. The difference is that the previous one is an internal cause, while this one is an external cause. Because the umbrella papyrus has not been fertilized for a long time, it is difficult for it to absorb enough nutrients, and yellow leaves appear.
Solution: Add an appropriate amount of nutrient solution or fertilizer to the water. The concentration must not be too high, and do not add too much at one time, otherwise it will cause fertilizer burn to the seedlings.
3. Increase light
Cause: If the umbrella papyrus is placed in too shady a place for a long time, making it difficult for it to receive sunlight, it will be hard for it to carry out photosynthesis and synthesize nutrients. Without nutrients in the leaves, it naturally cannot grow normally and synthesize chlorophyll, so the leaves will turn yellow.
Solution: Change its care location and place it in a sunny spot for care. However, be careful not to place it in a place with overly intense sunlight, otherwise its leaves can easily be scorched.
