What to Do When a Money Tree's Leaves Turn Yellow? Causes and Solutions
1. Increase Watering
Cause: Water is the raw material for a series of physiological reactions in the money tree. A long period without water will paralyze some of its physiological functions, causing the leaves to turn yellow.
Solution: Water the money tree in a timely and appropriate manner to keep the potting soil moist.
2. Reduce Watering
Cause: Watering the money tree too much causes water to accumulate in the soil. The plant's roots sit in the water and are prone to rotting, which affects the absorption of nutrients and causes the leaves to turn yellow.
Solution: When the situation is not very serious, raise the pot and place it in a ventilated spot so the water in the soil can evaporate, and reduce watering. If the situation is more serious, take the entire money tree out, cut off the rotted roots, and replant it in fresh soil.
3. Reduce Light Exposure
Cause: If the money tree is not shaded in summer and is left in strong sunlight for a long time, its leaves will be scorched and then turn yellow.
Solution: Move the money tree to a spot with bright light but no direct sunlight for care.
4. Supplement Fertilizer
Cause: Not fertilizing the money tree for a long time can also make it difficult for it to absorb enough nutrients from the soil, causing the leaves to turn yellow.
Solution: Apply some fertilizer or nutrient solution to the money tree. Before applying, be sure to dilute it to avoid harming the plant due to excessive concentration.
5. Prune Moderately
Cause: If the money tree grows too lushly, the leaves block each other, making it difficult for each leaf to receive enough light, or because there are too many leaves, the nutrients absorbed by the roots cannot supply the normal growth of all the leaves, which can lead to yellow leaves.
Solution: Prune in time, thin out the denser areas of branches and leaves, and cut off the weak, poorly developed branches and leaves.
