Reasons for Yellowing Leaves on Clivia and How to Fix Them
1. Reduce light exposure
Cause: Clivia cannot be placed in direct sunlight, otherwise its leaves will be scorched by the intense sun and develop yellow symptoms.
Solution: Use a shade net to shade the Clivia, or simply move it to a place where direct sunlight cannot reach it.
2. Increase watering
Cause: Not watering the Clivia for a long time will cause it to become dehydrated, and physiological activities such as respiration and photosynthesis cannot proceed normally, which causes the leaves to turn yellow.
Solution: Water the Clivia in appropriate amounts and in a timely manner. Water it as soon as the soil starts to dry out.
3. Reduce watering
Cause: If you usually water too much, the Clivia cannot absorb it in time, and the excess water remains in the soil. This causes the roots in the soil to be soaked in water and unable to access enough oxygen, which makes the roots switch to anaerobic respiration, produce ethanol, and damage the roots. Once the roots are damaged, they cannot absorb nutrients normally, and the leaves, lacking nutrients, are prone to turning yellow.
Solution: If the situation is relatively serious, you need to take the Clivia out of the soil and replant it elsewhere. If the situation is not that serious, you can place the flowerpot in a ventilated spot, let the water in the soil dry out, and reduce watering.
4. No treatment needed
Cause: If the Clivia is relatively old, some yellow leaves will also appear as part of normal metabolism.
Solution: This situation requires no extra treatment. Just care for it normally for a period of time, and it will be able to return to normal.
