After an empty oil drum is used up, many people just throw it away, which is too wasteful. In fact, with just two cuts, it can become a magic tool for growing vegetables. You can eat fresh vegetables you grow yourself at home and save a lot of money on groceries! Come and learn a few tricks from the editor!

Vegetable-growing magic tool

No need to buy scallions

1. Scallions are an indispensable seasoning for cooking, but you would never guess that one oil drum can save you from ever buying scallions again! Wash the oil drum clean and poke rows of small holes around it.

2. Fill the whole oil drum with a layer of soil and a layer of scallion bulbs. Note that the sprouting end of the scallion bulbs should stick out through the holes.

3. Water a little every day to keep the soil moist. In one to two weeks, you can eat the scallions you grew yourself!

Cilantro

No need to buy vegetables

1. Scrub the oil drum clean, use scissors to cut a square opening in the bottle body, and dig a few small holes on the other side. Fill the oil drum with soil, and you can mix in some crushed eggshells to increase the soil's nutrients.

2. Remove the roots of the cilantro and plant them directly into the oil drum. Water thoroughly once and place it in a cool spot.

3. The next 4-6 days are the sprouting stage, so be careful not to water. Once the cilantro seedlings grow out, put them on the balcony and spray water once every 2 days.

4. After a month, the cilantro will have grown. Whenever you want to eat some, just pick a few. Buy cilantro once and you can eat it for more than half a year!

5. You can also plant water spinach, ginger, sweet potato leaves and other vegetables in the oil drum. Spring is just right for vegetable growth. You can eat vegetables you grow yourself at home and save a lot of money on groceries!

6. A friend used this method to build a super powerful bottle vegetable garden, growing vegetables for themselves and being self-sufficient!

Look at others growing vegetables and melons in several rows of plastic bottles like this, with abundant harvests! You can also use some plastic bottles to grow a large vegetable garden on your own balcony. Insert some vegetable and melon seedlings, chives, greens, and small scallions into the soil in the plastic bottles, water regularly, and once they grow, they will be full of fresh vegetables~ green and healthy!

If you have empty large oil bottles at home, doing this will give you even more planting space! Chinese cabbage and cabbage also have plenty of room to grow. What vegetables will you need to buy after that? Once planted, you'll have delicious vegetables to eat every day!

Clever uses for empty oil drums

Double the fridge space

1. During the Chinese New Year, there are lots of leftovers and the fridge isn't big enough. Here's a trick for you! Wash the empty oil drum clean and cut out circles one by one along the oil drum's horizontal ridges.

2. Place an oil drum ring on the first plate, then set up the second plate on top.

3. Then place another oil drum ring on the second plate and put the third plate on it. And so on. Then put the stacked plates into the fridge. This way, the fridge space increases by more than 1 time!

Bathroom storage

1. Cut the oil drum in half from the middle, and use a lighter to burn the edges to prevent the edges from cutting your hands.

2. Use clear tape to tie the two parts together, or use hot melt glue to stick them together.

3. Then poke two small holes directly opposite each other in the half with the lid.

4. Take a chopstick and pass it through one hole, put the paper towels over it, then pass the other end of the chopstick through the other hole. Now you have a homemade paper towel holder.

5. Hang the oil drum on the wall to store toothpaste and soap. It's as convenient as can be!

Toilet handle

1. Don't throw away the handle on the oil drum either. Learn to use it this way, and everyone will praise you! Use scissors to cut open both sides of the handle.

2. Fold both ends.

3. Apply hot melt glue to the folded parts, then stick them to the inside of the toilet lid like this.

4. When you want to use the toilet, just lift the handle directly, and you never have to worry about dirtying your hands again!

Draining bowls and chopsticks

1. Use scissors and a fruit knife to cut out several square notches along the bottle body's horizontal ridges.

2. Dig a small hole above the oil bottle and attach a small bottle mouth.

3. Place the oil drum in the kitchen. When washing chopsticks and dishes, just put them directly on the empty drum slots and they will drain quickly.

Cleaning empty oil bottles

I never expected that the empty oil bottles every household has could have so many uses. But after holding oil, how should this bottle be cleaned to wash the oil off the inner walls of the oil bottle?

Sand + baking soda

Pour some sand and baking soda into the empty oil drum, preferably coarser sand, add 1/3 water, then shake the oil drum. Through the scouring of the water flow and sand, oil stains can be removed.

Eggshell cleaning

Crush the eggshells and put them into the oil drum. Then add hot water and shake the oil drum vigorously. Pour out the water and eggshells inside, rinse a few more times with clean water, and the oil stains in the oil drum will quickly disappear!

Rice washing water + rice

Put a small handful of rice and an appropriate amount of rice washing water into the oil drum, shake it hard several times, then rinse it a few times with clean water, and the oil drum will immediately be as clean as new!
