Among the succulents we usually buy, most originate in foreign countries! They are imported and then propagated. But have you ever noticed that there are also many succulents around us!

Compared with foreign succulents, our own succulents are no less impressive! It is just that we see them too often and overlook them! Below, the editor introduces three succulents from around us!

The first: Orostachys

The family and genus of Orostachys are Crassulaceae, Orostachys;

Orostachys has a very wide distribution range, native to many countries in Asia. In China, Orostachys is distributed in Hebei, Guangdong, Inner Mongolia and the three northeastern provinces; it often appears on houses and mountains, and friends who are not familiar with its name will remember it when they see this! Although it does not look good in the wild, if you put it in a flower pot and take careful care of it, after a period of time, when you look at it carefully, this thing is still quite pleasing to the eye!

Morphological characteristics: a perennial succulent herbaceous plant, about 10-40 cm in height, with a slightly slanting stem, and the whole plant appears pinkish-green. The leaves at the base form a tight rosette, shaped linear to lanceolate. The color is green with a bit of purple, and the edges have fringed cartilaginous pieces and needle-like spines. The flower color is light red;

Growing environment: grows on rocky hillsides and rocks as well as on the roofs of tile houses or thatched houses. It is widely distributed on the sunny side of deep mountains, and also grows between the tiles of old houses! It is drought-tolerant and cold-tolerant;

The second: purslane

The family and genus of purslane are Portulacaceae, Portulaca;

Everyone is all too familiar with purslane! I remember often picking purslane in my rural hometown as a child, and it is said to have strong medicinal value too!

Morphological characteristics: purslane is an annual herbaceous plant, thick and juicy, hairless, usually about 10-30 cm in height.

Growing environment: grows in sunny places along roadsides and in courtyard ruins. It is distributed throughout the country;

The third: Sinocrassula yunnanensis

The family and genus of Sinocrassula yunnanensis are Crassulaceae, Sinocrassula;

A species unique to China. Its place of origin is Yunnan in China, and it is named after the abbreviation of Yunnan!

Morphological characteristics: compared with other succulents, Sinocrassula yunnanensis is still very easy to identify, overall black, with small and dense leaves, and the leaf surface has a frosted feel. At the same time, the plant is relatively brittle and easily broken when moved!

Growing environment: likes sufficient light, is cold-tolerant, and also tolerant of moisture; wild Sinocrassula yunnanensis mostly grows on sunny slopes in the mountains and in places with moist soil.
