Summer has arrived, and at the thought of those annoying mosquitoes about to run wild again, the plants we keep at home also tend to attract them. Today I will recommend several green plants that can repel mosquitoes; placing them on the balcony or windowsill can help drive mosquitoes away.

1. Mosquito plant

The mosquito plant (Pelargonium citrosum) has a slight lemon scent and can give off an odor that repels mosquitoes. You can buy a pot of mosquito plant to care for right now, and when the mosquito-rampant season comes you will not need to fear them. The mosquito plant loves sunlight very much but does not tolerate waterlogging, so in normal care you need to ensure sufficient light and must not water too much. The mosquito plant is still very easy to care for; placing it at the doorway or on the windowsill can produce a very good mosquito-repelling effect.

2. Mint

Mint can be said to be known to everyone. Mosquitoes cannot stand the scent of mint, so mint's mosquito-repelling effect is very good. Mint is the easiest aromatic potted plant to grow; with little management it can fill the pot, and after being placed on the balcony it will not take long to grow all over. Mint leaves can be picked directly and steeped in water to drink, soothing the throat and benefiting the lungs, cooling and relieving summer heat.

3. Rosemary

Rosemary is a very common herb seasoning in Western cuisine. It can not only be used as an edible seasoning, but its scent can also play a role in repelling insects. The suitable temperature for rosemary growth is around 20°C. Keep a pot now, and by summer it will fill the pot.

4. Lavender

Lavender has a sleep-aiding effect and can help improve our sleep. Its scent also has a very obvious deterrent effect on mosquitoes. Lavender has very strong adaptability; no matter whether the soil is acidic or alkaline, you only need to ensure the potting soil is loose and breathable.

5. Mugwort

The mugwort mentioned here is the mugwort hung up during the Dragon Boat Festival. It is not only a medicinal material, but also an edible ingredient. The scent it gives off can also play a role in repelling mosquitoes. Mugwort can be said to be a very easy-to-care-for potted plant; it only needs well-aerated soil, and after being placed on the balcony it basically needs no attention at all. It can be said to be the most worry-free green plant.
