Many people know how to grow water-cultured green plants; they are clean, easy to manage, and also look great. Below are tips for water culture of Alocasia macrorrhizos.

Water culture tips for Alocasia macrorrhizos

(1). When first water-culturing Alocasia macrorrhizos, carefully wash the roots, cut off rotten roots and old roots, then place it in a cool, shady spot for 2~3 days. After the wounds heal, proceed with water culture; generally within 2~3 [days] you can see new roots emerging.

(2). In the early stage, change the water once every 2~3 days; the water depth should ideally cover two-thirds of the root system.

(3). After about 3 weeks, new roots have grown and the plant has also adapted to the water culture environment, so you can switch to nutrient solution culture, changing the nutrient solution about once a month.

(4). Keep the water quality and the container clean, and wash them regularly; otherwise, water pollution makes root rot and stem rot likely. This is because the stem tissue of Alocasia macrorrhizos is relatively loose and prone to rotting.

(5). When changing the water, gently rinse the plant's roots, remove the slime from the roots, and pick off any yellow or withered leaves that appear on the plant.
